Here's the thing. Trump is the symptom, not the cause. You can call out TDS all you want (and not The Daily Show, clever by those guys). People get mental about presidents all the time.
The issue is the bizarro parasocial TV relationship combined with exalted hero worship and a person with zero moral compass. Imagine Greta Thunberg starring as Hannah Montana, napalming children in Amazon indigenous tribes for fun and deforestation, and then winning the presidency.
Idiocracy is only going to get worse. I don't know if it will ever get better. Because while Reagan was our B-movie president and Trump was our reality TV president, the US is going to elect a YouTuber or TikTok star in the next couple of decades. Mark my words.
