It doesn't make sense to deport US citizens, I agree.

At that point, do you even call it "deport"? Wouldn't it just be kidnapping?

Did the parents say this?

What's your source?

Again, you’re not making any sense. You’re beating a dead horse. Come back when you’re a little less neurotic.

How is it kidnapping if they’re the parents?

Parents cannot take their children with them according to you.

I repeat my question: is there a statement from the parents saying they are taking their children with them? Because that is specifically what the court has asked.

I believe most posters will testify to the fact I have gone to great lengths to explain just about anything about due process and why it matters to you. You may think a lot about me, but I don't think you will find many other posters saying I'm not making sense here. Perhaps it's time to question your own reading skills.

...btw taxing consumption instead of revenue isn't necessary a terrible idea...
that was a general statement and i have once again hungary as a semi-working example to back it up

however

in case of murica, it won't work. i was thinking about it and i thought why not check the amount the federal government collects from income taxes and compare it with the potential amount of tariffs based on current numbers

here's what the treasury published (pdf): https://fiscal.treasury.gov/files/reports-statements/mts/mts0325.pdf

table 3 on page 9:
1745842573461.png

so if you want to replace income tax with tariffs, the federal government should collect ~2,7 trillion usd. (a few rows below, custom duties are estimated at a total of 63 billion lol, ~2,3% of the income tax revenue)

total imports of the united states in 2024: 3,36 trillion (https://tradingeconomics.com/united-states/imports-by-category)

so at the same level of consumption, you'd need an average tariff rate of ~80% to be able to get rid of the individual income tax revenue. needless to say, that's simply impossible for multiple reasons (inflation would skyrocket, current level of wages would be unsustainable, current level of consumption would be unsustainable to mention a few)

tl;dr: replacing income tax with tariffs isn't happening. an other public statement by donald which is either a lie or a promise he won't be able to keep

@Seven

The kids are with their rightful parents, when she turns 18, she can make the decision of returning. Nice to see families together, not disbanded. I will never be in a position where my due process will be compromised.

I'm just going to quote the article, as it sort of speaks for itself:

"Gracie Willis of the National Immigration Project said the mothers, at the very least, did not have a fair opportunity to decide whether they wanted the children to stay in the United States."

"The 4-year-old — who is suffering from a rare form of cancer — and the 7-year-old were deported to Honduras within a day of being arrested with their mother, Willis said. "

"In a Thursday court filing, lawyers for the father said ICE indicated that it was holding the 2-year-old girl in a bid to induce the father to turn himself in. His lawyers didn’t describe his immigration status, but said he has legally delegated the custody of his daughters to his sister-in-law, a U.S. citizen who also lives in Baton Rouge."

So, no. This is not simply a case of the kids being with their righthful parents.

Parents make decisions in the best interests of their child. It's unlikely that the parent of a 4 year old receiving cancer treatments in the US would decide that it's in the best interest of the child to go to Honduras. The child will probably not even be alive at 18 because of this decision. But let's stop pretending.

You want this child to suffer.

That is who you are as a person.

As for the 2 year old, well, looks like the legal custodian wasn't heard.

I'm not surprised people support this shit. As you've said before, republicans and MAGA fags are truly evil people.

Once California secedes from the Nazi States of Murica, I will formally move there and ensure @Nomuken is deported to a slave labor camp in West Virginia where he will fish for mountain trout all day for little wages. The funny thing is the people there will hate him too because he’s Mexican, so he will probably end up in El Salvador anyway.
