It was a bad speech, but I feel that was taken out of context.

He said he hates that they are a fact of life, which doesn't sound as bad. It's still bad though, because mostly they're only a fact of life because they refuse to adopt normal gun laws.
even his suggested solution (more effective control at the entrance of schools) isn't that bad of an idea from someone who's clearly paid by the gun lobby

but that fact of life line was idiotic indeed. when you're a politician and you prepare a speech, you should know better and not gift anything to your opposition. kamalahq must have thought it's christmas already

Apparently the father of the shooter bought the gun for him as Christmas present.
and daddy was already alerted by the authorities way before he bought the gun because the son threatened to shoot up a school

daddy is a textbook idiot, isn't he. well deserved arrest there

The issue here is that an idiot can easily traumatize a town. There are idiots everywhere, and there are evil people too who you truly can’t stop. But it should be a million times harder than this.

But the thing is you can't secure schools the same way you secure airports or courtrooms. It's impossible to have that kind of manpower everywhere all the time. And then shooters would simply move to routes children take to go to school.

By far the easiest solution is making it more difficult to get guns.

I mean, you see almost no school shootings in any other country in the world. They happen, but they are so rare. I couldn't name a school shooting in Europe in recent memory. Maybe there is one, I'm guessing there is. But they're definitely rare.

Americans online get pissed off when it’s pointed out that gun related deaths are one of the highest causes of deaths among children and are ready to argue semantics while ignoring the fact that anything more than zero in the stats column should be considered a failure. I get you want guns, but can you at least regulate it properly?

At this point, we’re basically asking for it over and over.

agreed. canadians also have guns. europeans hunt a lot, i know dozens of hunters who have huge arsenals at home. not ak's of course but deadly weapons. in hungary you'll get jail time if your gun isn't properly stored and your kid can access it

so the problem isn't the guns

my point was that usually we don't see any solution to the problem from the nra dudes and conservative politicians. they usually answer by saying that it isn't the time for debates but for grief lol. anyway, if they suggest an airport style control then let them pay the bill and let's see how it works. you're probably right and shooters would find other opportunities

The creepiest thing about this isn't the video. It's the people making these for a living.

This guy is at least an American. Most are in Africa or Asia it seems.

Trump is very brave to have all these interviews presenting his vision to the nation:
No 2 consecutive sentences are related to each other.
This is what happens in life when you've so surrounded yourself with "yes" men that no one has once uttered, "Maybe it's better not to ramble and say everything if you really don't have a clear response."

"School shootings are a fact of life" - that dickhead who carrys Trump's ballsack after the recent shooting. Exactly what every parent wants to hear when grieving. Prick.
But hey, good news for Trump. With school back in session, they can go back to targeting children again instead of presidential candidates.

Conspiracy theory time, what if nothing is being done regarding school shootings in order to have people splurge for private schooling instead of public? Less tax money going to schools, more going to corrupt govt?

Companies selling guns seems an easier conspirary though.

Also, while we have almost no private schooling in Belgium, it is in fact on the rise in Europe too. So you don't need school shootings it would seem.

to be fair, unless you go to a nice school district, most public schools seem useless here. All about standardized testing.

Seems like an excessive way to get that done. And private school strikes me as something that you can afford or you just can't.

But why would private schools be immune to that?

As far as i know china is the only other nation where these kinds of events occur with such regularity except, obviously, with knives instead of guns. What is it about those two nations that stands out from the rest?
