I miss when our biggest problem as a nation were numerous armed, menacing clowns threatening the public. Ahh, the simpler times.
I remember scary clowns. And when my brother, a police officer, had to respond to concerned parents on Facebook because they felt the local PD failed to have an effective scary clown policy to deal with the situation.

(True story, bruh.)
I think it was more people doing stupid shit for social media.
Only if they were really
bad at social media. What literal clown can't use social media right to pump up their likes and views by getting caught in the act? Most of those scary clowns were reported but rarely if ever caught on camera.
Love the song in your sig.

It's a thing of beauty.
bro the ayn rand institute took a bailout lol
Damn is that fitting. I mean, I'd withdraw my membership if they didn't.
Capitalism is bad, socialism is good and if a city council woman is telling you they will push out capitalism for a form of socialism, I'd say that is pretty fucking crystal clear what the motive is.
Let's not let capitalism off the hook now. It never was that great for everybody, but it helped a lot of people and economies in aggregate. That said, today it has much to answer for.
These people are either insignificant in number, support, and appeal, in which case they don't matter because democracy. Or they are growing in number, power, and platform, which is again no problem because democracy. Don't forget that these people are elected. You can't be for democracy, freedom of thought and expression, and see this as anything other than a perspective, which yes may change the politics in the country. Having to accept that in a democracy, an opposing perspective, as wrong as it may be, can get enough popularity to make a significant change to the system is how you can make sense of the hysteria on the right.
Hello Egypt.
There is no more hysteria on the right than there is on the left. You didn't see people screaming at the sky in anguish when Obama was elected twice.
Hmm. Interesting thought. But I think the hysteria is expressed differently. But I might say it's equivalent for both sides. Crazy lefties are hysterical because they think the world is all about personal persecution at all times. Crazy righties are hysterical because they respond to seeing that by arming themselves with personal tanks and mortars. Same circus, different clowns.
All due respects to
@GordoDeCentral, but people were calling Obama the worst president ever who was as liberal a socialist as the US has ever seen. While the guy rightly became known as the Drone President.
But he has, obama will go down as top 3 worst presidents in the history of america.
I don't see it. We are in a recent period of existential ideology hysteria today. Since around Clinton, the answer to every president in power is that they were the worst ever and need to be impeached. That is now status quo, whomever is in office. (No disrespect to the above-and-beyond achievements of Trump in this regard.)
And look what happened to Alex Jones...pretty much canceled, which I'm sure most of you here would agree is a good thing even though it goes against free speech.
There are also a ton of smaller left outlets that can be combined with the CNNs/MSNBCs/CBS/ABCs of the media world. What's your point? You combine Fox and the few little ones you mentioned it still doesn't come close to the majority of the media narrative we see now.
Free speech doesn't mean calling the parents of murdered children "crisis actors" and riling up your audience base to chase them down with doxxing and death threats.
The media all kind of equally sucks, left and right. But we also need it. Someone has to call power and even less powerful voices to account. Social media can't do it, since it's a preening personal sh*t show. And it's certainly not government sponsored media that can be the watchdog for its boss. (VOA aside.)
Damn we agree on something (Carter). But why Wilson?
Because
@Hustini lol hate crime, lemme guess the DA is black
That was pretty damn ridiculous. Even if you think hate crimes deserve any special treatment separate from the crimes themselves, calling that a hate crime is pretty much the equivalent of using the Hitler analogy on Bill Gates. (Don't get more wrong, I hate that guy and wish he would be buried in a ditch somewhere.)
Whoa, I saw a headline about that today and I thought someone painted over the BLM that's in DC. Didn't realize it was in Cali...
Yeah, in the hometown of my brother the cop, too.

Good thread.
It is.

I'm a little late to catch up.
I’m in the ER with minor rabdo, so it’s been a good read
Bum deal. Sorry to hear that. Though being in an ER was a lot worse a couple of months ago...
Yeah this peaceful protesters is bs. Im telling from personal experience. I was part of a left political party, and we always said we were doing peaceful protests, and we provoke the police, so they would beat us and arrest us so we could use the “victim card”. Even during arrests we had handpicked who should be arrested.
My point is, if you want to make a point and do a violent protest then, deal with consequences but dont hide behind “peaceful card”.
I think people want simplistic whitewashing (can I use that word

. There is no one kind of protestor. There isn't even one kind of peaceful protestor. We see a lot of individual actions being attributed to wide swaths of people who only have in common that they happened to be publicly in the same street at the same time.
Especially with the Left... even if we're just talking peaceful protestors, they can never stick to a single issue anyway. Guaranteed that a BLM march is going to have some nut job with signs for trans rights and some other is going to be decrying the carnivore capitalists bringing down vegans.
@swag looks like we were right about reddit all along
Reverse representation. I thought it was a bit much when every American comedy on TV had a black woman as a judge. But this is another step in the misinformation direction ... it's not even just fantasy now.
All PoCs have been turned into eunuchs as policy.
So POCs are basically immune to ever being offensive now?
Is that a joke or is it real?
They should do it to all the Karen coverage too. I feel like I am being race-baited by the media, left or right, 24x7 these days.
