I know it might be all bluster but even threatening to attack cultural sites is a new low for America. Oh and it will be the least effective attack since it will unite the entire country behind a cancer which is Islamic Republic.
Yes, non-kinetic = cyber. And yes, we routinely let them know via such attacks as a reminder. Usually when intel comes in that something is about to happen we typically fire something downrange on the internetz to remind them rather quickly (i.e. shutting down equipment they need to launch an attack or equipment they use such as navigation, etc) that we already know. The low hanging fruit over here they get pretty easily, which is all fine and dandy, but when we whipe out there entire Active Directory & high level accounts for machines they need to do their wartime bidding, they get lodged off course and have to regroup.
I know it doesn't mean much to you guys, but non-kinetic happens routinely and usually de-conflicts an attack and slows down that progression.

I know you guys HATE Trump, which I understand completely, but one good thing he has done is taken the gloves off of OCO in order to minimize what we saw a couple days ago. Without going too much into detail whats going to happen in a short amount of time, the last POTUS made it much harder (legally) to initiate OCO's. As things unfold I'm sure news will eventually break. I can't go into details what they will be, but I'm sure you'll see soon enough. But just because news doesn't break from cyber attacks it doesn't mean they aren't happening...there are multiple daily from multiple agencies.

During a round of protests in November the whole internet was shut down for 5 days in Iran. Of course cyber attacks happen regularly but Trump didn’t mean 52 cyber attacks against places important to Iranian culture as a response to, say, a rocket attack against a US airbase. That kind of threat won’t scare anybody in Iran, which makes it useless. He surely meant physical attack.
Look, I know you're going to believe what you want. I'm simply telling you attacks are planned and why we use non-kinetic attacks. Of course they aren't meant to scare anybody...they are annoying and costly and no lives lost, that's the entire point. He said fast and hard...it takes seconds to activate a cyber attack with our posture they way it is.
Hellfire missiles are also fast & hard or whatever the military decides to pop off. Per the cultural sites, lets wait and see. I don't think he is going to launch a gunship or a tomahawk into a mosque or museum because that literally does nothing to deter Iran's military rather it persuades its citizens to hate him/us even more.

No I don’t believe what I want. I know, and agreed with you, that cyber attacks happen all the time. But that is not what Trump is threatening Iran with. Because that threat is pointless. Also as I mentioned earlier you don’t have to “wait and see” the attack on cultural sites. A sitting US president is threatening to commit war crimes, and that is already a new low even without actually doing that.
Pretty sure we all agree that Trump talks a lot. Sometimes he backs it up, most of the time is noise. Until I see him attack a cultural site, I'm going to assume is noise when I know there are other more important targets that would actually have an impact.

As twisted as it sounds, there is a humor to cyber attacks ESPECIALLY if its an attempt to spread a dis-information campaign among the civilian population. He mentioned 52 attacks, doing half of those would completely inundate the country having to regroup and defend whatever those attacks were.
Obviously I'm walking a very thin line where I"m not trying to defend him/his tweets, rather, I'm trying to shed light on what options might be on the table. Basically what I'm trying to say is there are ways we flex our muscles without hurting anybody...the drone attack is another way with an entirely different can of worms he decided to open.

I agree on cyber attack being more effective, and I hope POTUS thinks the same. But I honestly don’t understand how a cyber attack against a cultural site would work. What is it exactly anyway? Turning off floodlights in Persepolis and Naqsh Jahan square? Or playing AC/DC in a mosque? That would be interpreted as a joke, and it indeed is.
Not sure what cultural sites would be the focus, Iran has thousands. No idea. Usually defacing a museums website, or something like they (they just did that to us today actually).

Defacing a museum website is not a threat. Most of the ancient Iran artifacts are kept in museums of France, UK, and US. Museums in Iran are much smaller in comparison, and with crashing economy and looming war I’m not sure if anybody cares about museums let alone checking their website for information. Also even though logically nobody in the US should seek another war, Trump is not a rational person, and he listens to nobody. So I’m not as optimistic as you in thinking he knows what he’s doing.
