Oh I know, and agree 100%. I was responding to why he should even have 1%. He's helping SOME people, mostly in his base. "The economy, stupid" means different things to different people, but I bet most of his base will be happy with a little extra money. Even if they are hurt by some his policies he usually sends a strong "I got your back, and fuck everybody else" message.
One of the best books I've read in past few years is "Strangers in Their Own Land by Arlie Hochschild. She is a sociologist in Berkeley who got interested in Tea Party movement after 2010 and traveled to Louisiana to befriend some of the most loyal tea partiers. midway through the book she develops a "deep story", which is the core of what those folks believe. She says most tea party members believe in a American Dream line, in which they wait patiently for many years to get to what they deserve. However, they believe minorities, immigrants, etc. cut in the line in front of them, and they deeply resent that. So that "fuck everybody else" message deeply resonates with Trump base. "Let's give 2% raise to military, but not the federal workers. let's give $4.7B to farmers, but fuck healthcare".
His appeal for social conservatives is obvious too.
I’ll have to check it out. Sounds like cool read

https://edition.cnn.com/2018/09/04/politics/bob-woodward-book-donald-trump-fear/index.html

Chief of staff John Kelly describes Trump as an "idiot" and "unhinged," Woodward reports. Defense Secretary James Mattis describes Trump as having the understanding of "a fifth or sixth grader." And Trump's former personal lawyer John Dowd describes the President as "a fucking liar," telling Trump he would end up in an "orange jump suit" if he testified to special counsel Robert Mueller.
@Seven did you ghostwrite this book?

Not only Gary Cohn stole a letter off Trump's desk so that he won't sign it, but he also gave it to Bob Woodward to publish it in his book.

This BBC journalist have analyzed speech texts by government officials and concluded that NYT op-ed writer was Mike Pence, or someone who wants you to believe he's Mike Pence.

I won't be surprised if GOP decides that they've milked Trump enough and it's time to jump the ship, e.g. blame everything on Trump, impeach him and make Pence a sitting president.

If the elections go sour in a couple of months, they will set fire to him and make him their scapegoat. Kind of genius actually.

Nah it won't happen before he leaves office, or Muller proves his collusion. Trump is GOP. He is insanely popular among core GOP base and it's impossible for any Republican to win a primary without his support. Read what happened to Mark Sanford. link
Basically first Republican that wants to cross him will be buried so badly that others won't even dare doing the same. Party structure is American politics is very loose. Party is 70% its donors and 30% core base. Democrats had some controls over their party nomination process with that super delegate thing, but they chose to get rid of that one too.
But if GOP loses in 2018 AND 2020, he'll get most of the blame. RNC then will create a committee to increase engagement with minorities and women to please its donors, before another crazy Trump-like person shows up and it'll be the same old GOP again.

They created a committee to be more inclusive and diverse in 2008. That lasted about a minute.

'Murican politicians... :lol3:

https://www.washingtonpost.com/loca...ory.html?noredirect=on&utm_term=.45ad7cde63b1

A republican senator just said this:

“Around four weeks ago, we knew that British intelligence was working toward a chemical attack in order to blame the Syrian government, to hold Syria responsible,” Black said on Al Mayadeen, an Arab news channel based in Beirut.

Black (R-Loudoun) said later that he meant the British were planning not to carry out an attack themselves, but to either direct rebels to do so or stage a phony attack, with actors posing as victims.

Black also said some chemical attacks previously reported to have occurred in Syria were British fakes, pulled off with help from volunteer first responders known as White Helmets.

“From what I can tell, they have been planning a fake attack, not a genuine one, but one where they actually move people out of a town and they have trained people to portray victims of a gas attack,” Black said Friday in an interview with The Washington Post. “And the plan is to use the White Helmets who have always been involved in these notorious deceptions, to portray an attack.”

The area surrounding the World Trade Center has been a freak show all day. You have the usual conspiracy theorists that I would love to take a bat to, but now you have the QAnon retards adding to the mix. This country is in a very sad state at the moment, people like this simply need to die off for things to get better.
