It's funny how you say Kasich is somewhat decent. The reality is that he's another Wall Street hawk. He would be terrible.
I look at it in a different way. Again, Trump has no reason being in politics. He was big friends with the Democrats in New York and elsewhere, making a fortune out of real estate deals he couldn't obtain without being cordial with the Liberals. I'm not sure what exactly he will gain monetarily from the Presidency, especially if he takes down his former friends. Some say he will enrich his other friends; maybe so. But from those other angles, some believe he truly does care about the country. But in my view, he is shortsighted in a lot of areas -- especially foreign policy.
The Iraq war was certainly part of it. But the stability of Northern Africa was utterly destroyed beginning in Libya, moving East across the continent to Egypt where the country seemingly still has not recovered. Obama almost bombed the Assad regime until military servicemen declined to be Al Qaeda's air force. Quite clearly there is more at play than just asinine foreign policy decisions -- this is about regime change across the Middle East, and clearly it's gotten out of control now -- on Obama's watch, mind you. And by the way, my "narrative" has always been indict Bush and Cheney for war crimes, so you need to think outside of the box and get out of this left-right paradigm.
What do you mean by radicalization? You don't think it's pretty radical to invade countries that had no part in attacking us while at the same time protecting the true culprits because they have the oil? Or is it because the left sort of agrees with it as well, along with the Patriot Act? The Republican party now is far more sane than after 2001, even despite their anti-immgration rhetoric.

How's this possible in a sane country? Add a bill which couldn't be passed into another which has absolutely nothing to do with the former and hold the government to ransom. So it's either government shutdown or a surveillance state. On top of that the members of Congress has 48 hours to read, comprehend and respond to a 2000 page document.
Does this happen in other developed countries? I'm curious. I won't be surprised if it does though.

The government shutdown is a joke. 83% of the government still goes to work, and the other 17% gets all the back pay when it reopens and business goes on as usual. All it is is a vacation for the 17%. I know this because my wife was a victim of the last sequester and she had a week and a half off and then paid for that time when the government "reopened".
But yeah, our government right now (Congress included) is an absolute joke. The government shutdown is nothing more than a political battle at this point on which side is going to send people packing on a vacation yet its sold to the people that one side or the other is going to be responsible for them not getting paid while on vacation.

The even shittier thing is that the 911 first responders bill took forever to pass. Couldn't pass on its own because Mitch Fuck Face McConnell had to use it as political leverage. Meanwhile dudes are cancer ridden walking around around Capital Hill asking for money, and the bill still isn't permanent.
Yeah saw it on daily show, it was INFURIATING to see it unfold. Quite sickening to, that of the panel of several guys that were on the show 5 years ago to garner support for care for first responders, only one of them was alive or healthy enough to be back on the show this time. But its nice to hear it passed. Jon deserve big props for his neverending support 
Its sad this above needs to happen, again might I add, for Congress to do their damn job...I mean FFS how is it remotely contentious, people who risked their lives to save others, in general, just not a big tragedy, should get frigging health care covered :groan:

How arent people holding these morons responsible for their callousness and ineptitude? Not taking care of their servicemen and first responders. They have constituets in their states that should go ape on them when things like that happen.
