It's so depressing to me that he's in the lead. I have fucking family members that support this son of a bitch. It really does upset me way more than it should. I'm really hoping he doesn't win.

True, the left has been in shambles the past 25 years, ever since Blair & Schröder's amazing idea of the "Third Way" most social democratic parties in Europe don't deserve to be called left anymore. And I don't think the US ever had a left party at any point during the last 40 years.
It's tragic really, the crisis of 2008 should've been the natural chance for leftist movements around the world, but the only thing we got was Occupy.
Except for the few countries where actual left parties got popular due to the cluster$#@! that were the Troika austerity measures.
2008 was a product of central planning. The left blamed Wall Street and gave a free pass to government. That is stupid.
The left in the U.S. is all about playing mind games with everyone while covertly doing whatever it wants to fulfill their rent seeking for their special interest groups. It works great until it doesn't anymore, which is precisely why Trump is so popular

Hard to disagree with this. Good points from Rand as usual.

People don't have to vote for Obama anymore. So Paul's point is kind of stupid.
Also, the kind of bigotry portrayed by Trump has not been seen since.. Well.. Hitler. And I know the dude is playing games, but that makes it even worse. Sells his soul to become president.. If he has a soul, because Trump is a non-person with no actual ideas and opinions of his own.

And a lot of leftist thinkers majorly blamed public measures in the past for the financial crisis, but realised that different, and in many cases more government intervention is needed in order not to repeat the events.
Also, the US doesn't really have a left. Don't call the Democrats left.

I'm not sure I understand your point. I am well aware of that speech made by Bush. It has been referred to a lot the past couple of days. How does that make Trump any less of a bigot?
I know American media are remorseless, but how on Earth is this guy a serious contender? He looks like evil incarnate.

You suffer from the same symptoms as the cultural elite, who has been dictating almost everything for many years in this subject. Because you're educated enough to wrap your bs in high LIX-numbers, doesen't make you less bigoted. This is exactly one of the reasons, you see the rise in votes on right wing politicians. Nobody took these voters concerns serious.

Haengeboffer is smart, but he's wrong on this point. He seems to have forgotten that we interpet words by the meaning that is generally ascribed to them.
For example: Bush's speech is clearly not bigoted. Bush might be. I might be. But his speech was not.
