except he didn’t, he left open Hong Kong and Macau in addition to allowing non Chinese people who had visited the mainland but hadn’t flown direct enter the country, those travelers were supposed be traced upon entering the country but weren’t. tens of thousands of people entered the country from China during the travel ban

There are people around my area who have huge banners up counting the number of dead from Covid in the US, updating it every day or two to demonstrate how many people Trump has personally killed. If people seriously blame Trump for killing all of these people, then it's really no use in having any discussion whatsoever.

Yeah. I agree with all of this. I have no idea what I would do if I lived down there. Probably wouldn’t vote. I agree with liberal politics of the 90s, etc. But I despise the progressive, identity politics wing of the party so much that I have trouble supporting them any longer. But I just don’t agree with conservative ideology in most other aspects so I don’t believe I could ever be conservative either. As @Zacheryah said above, a viable option in the middle would be a godsend.
I brought up Obama because of the Peace Prize shit, not anything else.

I was ok with the travel ban, but it didn't go nearly far enough. Could've, at the very least made travelers coming from hotspots quarantine, set up temperature checks at the airport (not really a good indicator yes, but even if it stopped one person that could've saved thousands down the line), and the biggest thing being accepting those WHO offered tests. I remember the European ban too, happened after I believe confirmed community spread in California already and after it was clear Italy was going to be hit hard. Western governments in general seem to have acted far too late.
Fair enough. That’s a Trump special. And Fox News for that matter. I’ve noticed it happening a lot as a defence of Trump in this thread. And of course it’s in part due to the constant attacks of everything he does, good or bad, and the relative silence about the other side’s bad behaviour. But that’s a media thing, and not really something that people engage in, in this thread. As I’m pretty certain every liberal leaning person in this thread despises the further left identity politics nonsense.
