Let's say he snaps, and tries, the military brass that needs to turn the other key won't do it. Unless we are actively getting fired on with nukes there is pretty much no way it would happen.

Which is why you and I are not in his position. 80% of a politician's job is lying and deceit, and that's in a good day. My point was if you're considering all he has done this is an easy decision to make.
The President by himself cannot press a button and cause missiles to fly. He can only give an authenticated order which others would follow and then missiles would fly," Dr. Peter Feaver, a professor of public policy and political science at Duke University, told congressional lawmakers last year.

I wasn't really referring to the Stable Genius and Ayatollahs. Let's say, hypothetically, that a US president orders military to fire a nuclear missile to the heart of a desert which is believed to be a gathering of thousands of ISIS supporters. Would the guy who is supposed to execute the order overrule the president?

Can’t overrule as in with higher authority, but not following the order is punishable under UCMJ since the authentication process is handled by the military accompanying POTUS and the pentagon...
Think it’s Article 92 in USMJ and probably a few others
