That painting

Although that Carson statement is one the least fucked-up things about this administration, at least this one can be attributed simply to a poor choice of words, if you really want to and perform some mental gymnastics.

The same can't be said about a lot of other things going on right now.

Like...Ben Carson as HUD secretary without any experience or qualification whatsoever? possibly just because he's black?

Yeah even Carson alone has such a long history of awfulness :D

Here you can at least see the somewhat alright message he was trying to get across, even if such a manner of speech should be completely unacceptable for a politician, and even if was just "carelessness" in the moment (which I kinda doubt).

I saw a clip of him giving a tour of his home to some news outlet. I would think having that is the sort of thing a sane person would try to downplay but he was very proud of that painting
Well, an insane person with no experience in housing is running a federal department now.

This is a highly educated black man who can't comprehend a simple part of his ancestry.

I don't believe this is an honest mistake, call me cynical.
Ben Carson is a guy who courts the support of the Alt-right, who champion HBD pseudo-science.

He's a black man who is alright with a good percentage of his supporters believing science says black people have genetically inferior brains and lower IQs because of it.

Human Biodiversity of the Alt-right is basically Nazi Eugenics for the 21st Century.

HBD?

- - - Updated - - -

Ah, Human Biodiversity :D

Why do I have the feeling that that term is highly euphemistic
Because it is. :D

Seriously, one of the most disgusting fields of "science" out there, considering the amount of data manipulation and pseudoscience that goes into it.

Most of it is used by the alt-right and a ragtag assortment of overt racist groups to champion things like Genetic IQ differences, because whites generally score higher on IQ tests, while entirely failing to take into account the role environment plays in such things, and the fact that IQ in general rises dramatically as environment improves.

It's utter nonsense that anyone is championing "genetics" instead of epigenetics at this point, with regards to such things. HBD proponents missed the last few decades of science that moved past "nature vs nurture" to epigenetics. HBD and "race realism" are two peas in the same disgusting pod.

This is a good article from a few years ago about the idiocy of those who connect race with IQ.

Or as they say in the common tongue; he's just a dumb cunt.

The number I'm seeing is 300 cases. 300/3,000,000 is astronomically low. Even if you take the 38,901 Muslim refugees that entered last year, it's still astronomically low. I'd also like to know how many of these thousands of cases a year actually result in prosecution.

300 out of 1000 isn't low

300 out of 3,000,000 is much, much higher than 700 out of 320,000,0000

1 in every 10,000 vs 1 in every 457,000

We still need to know what "normal" numbers would look like and how many result in prosecution. Otherwise these could be routine, normal numbers. But going by solely past numbers of refugees convicted of such things vs total let into the country, it's pretty much a non-issue. However, when looking at the domestic, homegrown threat of American citizens you have a different story.

Also I find it extremely hard to believe ISIS would be the only ones to think of using the refugee program as a "Trojan horse" sort of thing.

Who? Carson? or Jackson?
Carson was just trying to give a message a hope and "have faith in American dream", etc. He used a horrible example to support that statement. I really hope he doesn't believe in that himself.
It wasn't that bad tbh. Objectively wrong and insensitive for sure, but i don't get the meltdown over these stuff (also similar to the whole Trump-Billy Bush meltdown). Maybe if democrats had put more effort into investigating the trump's campaign relationship with Russians instead of what the moron who's known for making moronic remarks said about women a decade ago, bunch of emails wouldn't have costed them the elections.

I appreciate your working with those zeros, i really do, but that's not the point. Does investigation mean conviction in Australia?

At this point it would be such a poor choice of words that it's just as bad imo.

I pay no attention to twitter outrage really. It is not bad in a sense that he did not make those comments to hurt anyone. It's just very idiotic. I would just laugh it off it Carson was not in charge of HUD.

It is not. He just pulled it out of his ass.
