nobody in the west will trust trump, vance or musk for the next 4 years. was it worth it? is trump really a master negotiator?
It's far worse. There is no coming back from this. Like I said before: the entire world knows that any treaty signed by the US, any agreement, any position they may have held in the past, any attitude they adopted before can change entirely in four years time. Trump has singlehandedly destroyed any credibility the US had on a diplomatic front.

The first time you said it, I took it as a joke. The next 100 times it made you sound like those crazy conspiracy theorists.
Now it's the only thing that makes any sense, as crazy and senseless as it is

I am still hoping for a more logical explanation, for a masterplan, an endgame, when we'll say: "ohhh, so this is why!". I don't think that it will happen, though.
look, russia has been trying to expand their influence in a way that is unimaginable for most europeans. we are inheritely less corrupt and vile than russians, even hungarians, one of the most corrupt nation in the eu. that's why we're surprised to learn that russian agents, spies, lobbyists walk among us. then it becomes second nature to assume russian background in obvious cases

in 2010 orbán won the elections with a literal landslide. that was the first time any party had a 2/3 majority since the first democratic elections after the collapse of communism. and they wanted to make their power permanent. so they wanted to take control of the checks and balances, and also the media. and orbán told his household oligarch to buy rtl klub (biggest non state tv channel) for him. and the oligarch said no, as very ironically, he believed in the freedom of press. and orbán said "then the russians will buy it for me". they failed but they bought the 2nd biggest channel lol (tv2)

since then, nothing surprises me when it comes to russian influence. when someone looks like a russian representative, then in my book they are very likely to be one. why would anyone support that shithole anyway

and no, i am not a conspiracy theorist. i love to read about them for fun and that's it. trump though, the patterns are very clear. he is either very gullible and easy to manipulate or he's on russian payroll. either way, it very much looks like putin has control over him at the moment

How do you interpret it? You are much more in tune with politics so curious to know your take on this, obviously besides trump's petulant man child who doesn't know what he's doing :D
I don’t know what the upside is. Based on his stated goal my most plausible explanation (which still might be a weak one) is that he really wants to boost government revenue to pay for reducing income taxes, and from his first term experience, where he placed tariffs on China, he thinks the cost won’t pass to the consumer.

What if he knows what he’s doing? Tariffs raise the prices but also government revenue that allows for a billionaire tax cut; hence a big transfer of wealth.
which one then

I wonder: does the MRGA crowd think they'll be better off in the end?

I mean, maybe you like Trump being a bully. Maybe you don't give a shit about Ukraine (or any other country for that matter) and it's not America first, but only America. Maybe you hate DEI and everything it stands for. Maybe "owning the liberals" is a lot of fun. Maybe you like how government is being dismantled. Etc.

But, when all is said & done, do you believe your own personal life is going to improve under the current administration? Do you expect to improve yourself financially? Will your standard of living be higher? Is your general safety going to be better? And so on.

If you're part of the 1% (0,1%?), then the answer would be a resounding yes. But if you're not?

I think this is absolutely what Trump would do and i don't think he cares at all whether it passes to the consumer cause at the end of the day, even if he and the entire govt gets replaced by democrats in a few years, the dems aren't going to rr raise taxes on the wealthy or reverse the cuts made to social security.

:agree: They could perform all they want but they're wealthy too and would likely benefit from all this as well, this country is likely irredeemable at this point.

Negotiate better trade and security deals for the USA, the only country he should care about (which is unfortunately not entirely true). But he fact is people keep saying he's dumb and he's going to break this and break that, but his track record says otherwise. He gets shit done and he knows how to get his way.

Have you met most Americans ? They are so stupid. I’m not even talking about republicans or red states. I’m talking all Americans here. The American school system is shockingly bad.

Trump has just announced his intention to aid Israel with anything it takes. You can't make this up anymore. This clown will bring about WW3. I strongly suspect that the entire map of the Middle East is about to change.
