None of this matters tbh that photo op, his reaction, and the energy of hope the events of yesterday generated make the orange dude look heaven ordained. If he fumbles this election it will be the worst choke in the history of American politics.
Yeah, I agree. But I think he had it in the bag from the start.
Are people switching from Biden to Trump over this? I doubt it, maybe some RFK folks will switch to Trump or some Dems will sit out. But I think it’s all been set in stone for a while.

Is the replacement imminent?
Yes and I would have said within the next two weeks until the Trump shooting. Not sure if this delays it somewhat but still, imo, i am waiting to see who replaces Biden and that matters far more in the outcome of the election than the shooting did

if anything the shooting could end up damaging Trump if he starts spouting off and getting militant about it

Time to go long stocks and short dollar. If people haven't already.

Dems could have prevented this by allowing for a primary, hard not to feel like the Dem estabilishment, despite all the rhetoric about democracy, actually cares far more about a power grab from the ideological side of their own party than it does a trump presidency

People ordained the orange dude a long time ago. I think this confirms existing belief. And while it's good to motivate the base, this election is going to be won on the weirdos on the margins and on the fences. So optics can be really different at the fringes.

I picked Trump to win this a year ago (and NATO to fold and Russia to invade Poland again, though there are a few doubts now). It is his to lose. But all the attention and rhetoric around bases is like calling California and Florida battleground states. I don't think it matters in the end.

Anyway, especially since it was a graze, people have a short memory. I mean, even the 2017 Congressional baseball shooting lasted maybe two days of attention:
https://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2024/jul/13/survivor-of-2017-congressional-baseball-shooting-d/

The reactions are all over-reactions now. Every news story and economic report is being framed as if that seals it. But the voters who matter most in this have the memory of goldfish.

This reeks of Internetz slooths.

The problem is he doesn't really look like a martyr.

I mean.. what would he be a martyr for? And martyrs are targeted by people with opposite beliefs. Trump wasn't shot by a Democrat. He was shot by a Republican. It's going to be impossible to spin that against the Democrats.

In the end it's just some loser nutjob shooting at a presidential candidate and loser nutjobs shoot at people all the time in the US. As bad as it sounds, it sort of makes this entire ordeal quite forgettable.

Its a bit different considering how so many people saw him yet they let him shoot.
