You know American politics is at all time low (Joe dementia sniffing every female, RFK Jr insane conspiracy nut, Ron de fascist, Trump being Trump), when they litterally all look like Batman Villains to me. Walking parodies.

Like why is it impossible to have a sane top candidate politician? Or if there are sane politicians, why can't they compete against absolute lunacy.
Because you either have to be insane or a total sociopath to want to be a politician in this country. It's just a rent seeking scam that creates little to no value for basically everybody.

Partly because they knew Sanders, Gabbard, Warren, Bloomberg, Klobuchar, and Buttigieg all stood to go down in flames to Trump worse than Walter Mondale did to Reagan outside of the state of Minnesota.
Sanders polled pretty well against Trump at the time for what it's worth, but we know how that can go. They definitely thought Biden stood the greatest chance and it worked out, might harm them now though.

It's pretty clear the Demo party gave Sanders a stick up the butt to make way for Hilaria. But the mainstream lefties weren't ready to go all Vermont socialist on everybody.

A good friend of me went a few weeks to the US for work. We were discussing the differences between here and there. Obesity was the thing that stood out according to him (and drive by ATM, I mean that’s just weird guys wtf). He told me that fresh grapes cost like 8 dollars while you’ll have a full breakfast with refills at a fast food restaurant for a lot less. No wonder why people struggle with eating healthy.

Its one of the things we hear a lot here aswel, that healthy foods cost to much. In my opinion it’s also about prioritising on how you’d like to spent your money. Are the differences always that huge over there?

you can find grapes for cheap and fast food has gotten expensive now. It’s harder to find fresh food easily rather than fast food which is everywhere but it’s all about taking your time to be healthy.

:agree:

Yeah, just takes a little initial research, but once done it’s pretty easy to live quite cheaply on simple healthy foods. It just requires a little more time in the kitchen to prep food, rather than having pre-made shit.

There's actually a lot of examples of this that I bring back from Europe. The produce at farmers markets in Europe is much, much cheaper and better quality. So if you go to a great restaurant in Paris, you'll likely be spending less on average than a great restaurant in the US, not just because of the tip. Then you look at bottled water - I could buy an Evian or similar quality for a Euro over there, but in the US it's like 3 bucks or more. Transportation generally costs more, apart from gas prices. So there's a lot of inherent inflation in the US that nobody really calls out for various reasons. A lot of it might be a scam, but we don't have as many subsidies as farmers and others in Europe, so part of it can be explained by that major difference.

Still - there's no reason why Americans can't cook decent meals for themselves at home for a good price. A lot of it is just poor diet in general and laziness. I could easily buy some chicken breasts for $6 and serve it over some kale and tomato salad I grew out of the garden. It's not that hard. Some Muricans are just stupid and lazy.

Yes, there are food deserts. But more to the point, all the food that's good for you doesn't meed marketing, subsidies and discounting.

All the newly created stuff that needs to colonize your colon is typically engineered to hack your addiction impulses: salt, sweet, crunchy, and edible as snacks all times of the day. The system is set up to deliver it as chemically possible with stuff that can sit for weeks on a hot truck or store shelves without worrying about spoilage. And with plenty of financial incentives and subsidies to ignore the old stuff that we've lived off of for centuries.

Soda being cheaper than water is a absolute joke btw, it happens here aswel on some occasions.

Tbh I think that we should go to a world where fruits, vegetables, nuts, rice, pasta and potatoes are tax free (I understand that it’s a bit more complicated for fish and meat). I wouldn’t be against a sugar tax if it gets compensated with lesser expenses for healthy foods.

Bottom line are your last sentences, I’d like to add that obesity at kids is a form of child abuse.

I'm not sure about this one, I don't think I've ever went anyplace where water wasn't free.
