I've been around guns my entire life and do not take issue with the idea of responsible, legal gun ownership. With that said, there should absolutely be restrictions on who can buy/own a firearm, and what kind. What those specifically should be, I don't know. However things like background checks, registration, barring people with violent convictions, etc are easy places to start. This won't be done, however.

The big problem is these laws differ by state, so it's almost like they don't matter at all in the first place. For example the vast majority of guns recovered in New York City are smuggled in from other states with lax laws, particularly in the south of course. I've read it's even as high as 90% of them here. Look up the "iron pipeline."

Thats why you need an assault weapon ban on a federal level.

I’ve got a lot of experience working with firearms (military background), but the lesson I really learned it that I’d never want normal civilians carrying guns like it’s a normal thing.

The principle is so simple: pull the trigger, hit someone in a lethal place and he’s very likely to die.

Society learns us that the world is basically full with idiots and many people who act out of emotion without thinking. And of course many people who sympathize with some sort of violent lifestyle. Radicalization is dangerous as well, and the motive doesn’t really matter

If we look to the security concerns here in Europe during the last decade with the attacks of ISIS, most weapons used survived in illegality since the Balkan war, end ended up being used by terrorists. So there’s a continental ban on weapons, but somehow those things pop up decades later and did harm to many people.

For your country it’s already way to late. My guess is that situations like the mass shootings will haunt your country for generations to come.

I guess his question was posed because of Texas, but I was speaking of the overall situation. Aside from these mass shootings though, gun violence is still a huge daily issue in major cities and those are almost all handguns. It's also an easier issue to tackle on a national scale imo.

I agree with everything. I personally know people that should not even be allowed to look at a gun. And if more restrictions are placed, less people end up owning them.

All firearms can be banned tomorrow and it would still be a problem long after we're all dead, there are more guns than people in this country. Over the years the culture surrounding them would change though.

What do the Muricans here think of the second amendment?

For me it’s so difficult to comprehend, that it’s almost impossible to imagine that people are actually in support of it.
Second amendment and gun ownership is an inseparable part of American culture. The problem is that guns like pretty much everything else have been a subject of a culture war since 70s which has led to very strict gun laws in some places (to the extent allowed by Supreme Court’s reading of 2A) and incredibly lax laws everywhere else. As a result we’re living in an era when elementary school kids need to go through active shooter training, as if like earthquake and tornado it’s a part of life.

Speaking like a true right wing lunatic.
What is next? Invading Mexico and Canada to "denazify" and "demilitarize" them?
Try to "rehumanize" and "rebrain" yourself first.

I could say that since you hail from an ex commie fuckhole, you have no knowledge of what freedom is, and that you should forever kiss the feet of the masters who freed you from the yoke of the descendants of the golden horde, but i won't, it's much more gratifying seeing you get all emotional fighting windmills.

The only thing that you are free from is sanity. Continue digging down the fascist hole, dipshit, and soon will reach Putler's dome where you belong.

Digging down deep enough to reach Putin's dome still isn't deep enough to reach Bulgarian up Putin's ass.

Indeed, best way to be in power as a fascist is to make sure the population is well armed

Yes, that's right. Especially when this well armed minority consists of easily manipulated, marginalised, conspiracy loving, religious, anti science zealots. Even the thought of me being associated with such a bunch of wackos makes me wanna vomit.
