Here you go, Sure Krarup:
Here you go:

Robert Reich:

I’m writing to you today to announce the death of the Republican Party. It is no longer a living, vital, animate organization.

It died in 2016. RIP.

It has been replaced by 6 warring tribes:

Evangelicals opposed to abortion, gay marriage, and science.

Libertarians opposed to any government constraint on private behavior.

Market fundamentalists convinced the “free market” can do no wrong.

Corporate and Wall Street titans seeking bailouts, subsidies, special tax loopholes, and other forms of crony capitalism.

Billionaires craving even more of the nation’s wealth than they already own.

And white working-class Trumpoids who love Donald. and are becoming convinced the greatest threats to their wellbeing are Muslims, blacks, and Mexicans.

Each of these tribes has its own separate political organization, its own distinct sources of campaign funding, its own unique ideology – and its own candidate.

What’s left is a lifeless shell called the Republican Party. But the Grand Old Party inside the shell is no more.

I, for one, regret its passing. Our nation needs political parties to connect up different groups of Americans, sift through prospective candidates, deliberate over priorities, identify common principles, and forge a platform.

The Republican Party used to do these things. Sometimes it did them easily, as when it came together behind William McKinley and Teddy Roosevelt in 1900, Calvin Coolidge in 1924, and Ronald Reagan in 1980.

Sometimes it did them with difficulty, as when it strained to choose Abraham Lincoln in 1860, Barry Goldwater in 1964, and Mitt Romney in 2012.

But there was always enough of a Republican Party to do these important tasks – to span the divides, give force and expression to a set of core beliefs, and come up with a candidate around whom Party regulars could enthusiastically rally.

No longer. And that’s a huge problem for the rest of us.

Without a Republican Party, nothing stands between us and a veritable Star Wars barroom of self-proclaimed wanna-be’s.

Without a Party, anyone runs who’s able to raise (or already possesses) the requisite money – even if he happens to be a pathological narcissist who has never before held public office, even if he’s a knave detested by all his Republican colleagues.

Without a Republican Party, it’s just us and them. And one of them could even become the next President of the United States.

Rubio is like the Rahul Gandhi of American politics, without the political lineage of the latter.
Yeah, the lineage is missing.

Btw, not to go off topic, but your take on the JNU mania?

Damn. I thought that was reasonably put.

It's ridiculous. Looking around I think this country is now filled with YouTube commentators. That goes for the folks running the government as well. You are not supposed to have a view different from that of the folks supporting the government. You then become anti-national. God forbid if you have a Muslim name, you become a terrorist sympathizer then. The JNU incident is just another leaf in an ever growing list of incidents which basically confirm the fear I had when Modi was elected to power. Right wing nationalists coming out from the shadows and terrorizing normal citizens who have a more centrist view. The funny bit is how friends and co-workers, who you'd have thought as more right of center, now lean more and more to the extreme right. You know you are just a random comment away from being called an anti-national to your face. I have also discovered that I live among idiots who have no idea how to have a meaning conversation let alone a debate. Such fun times to live in.

I wouldn't call Kasich a compassionate conservative even if he swore on his mother's grave. The guy is a maniuplative Wall Street freak who was selling his soul for TARP bailout funds after screwing his own investors. He doesn't have an ounce of compassion in him, trust me.

Rubio is just a demented Latino version of Matt Damon who receives scripts from Karl Rove and Dick Cheney (or one of his other bionic clones they wheel out from time to time).
I don't know all that much about him, but all I know is if it's between him and this....

The whole premise of the BJP freaked me out to begin with, so I was wondering why many seemingly level-headed Desis I knew weren't as alarmed when Modi got elected. Sure, I got the competency concerns with the economy, but forget that. Just when you start entertaining the notion that "maybe these Indians turning down artistic awards in protest is a little overblown", you get this. That all has clearly changed now.

I hope that the people makes amends when they go for elections in 3 years time, I doubt it though. Congress is so weak at the moment, BJP can burn the country to the ground and still get some sort of majority. We went from a world renowned economist as our PM to a chest pumping, selfie obsessed, barely educated orator. His whole campaign was based on the Gujarat model, which was flawed to begin with. That state is in the middle at best when it comes to education, health etc. My home state of Kerala on the other hand leads most indices and it's no surprise that BJP has never managed to win a single seat in the state or central elections. Yet, you don't hear anyone talking about the Kerala model :D
You know you have lost when you question an atrocity and you get asked 'Where were you with your objections when 1984 happened /when the Mumbai blasts happened.' I'm not sure if I can take another 3 years of this, let alone another 8. I'll move to San Francisco if they get elected again :p

It might have been edited slightly... :D
Of course, I know that for sure. But what has been said is not. Calling fellow debater names is absurd, that shit wouldn't even be allowed in small high school debate teams why is such behavior allowed on a national stage!

The last debate was a mockery. The moderators should have been shot in the back of their heads immediately afterward. If for nothing, but to encourage a better standard of journalism in the political arena.

@Osman Love the guy
Damn

Need more people like him to speak up (talking about our common goals instead of what divides us all). Instead of the wtf retarded headline grabbing talking points that dominates their political discourse...That these women are part of too.

They were litterally prepared to shame him and talk down to him, and had prepared talking points to be anti Sanders. But they didnt expect him to be that eloquant, smart and wise in his opinions. Hey he is called Killer Mike anyways lets spend our whole segment elluding how sexist he is, screw the facts. But they didnt have a rebuttal prepared for his well reasoned statements, instead prolly producer eager to cut him off for commercial

You compare that kind of individual and Bernie's social advocate policities, to his future opponent (if he wins over Hillary) is more busy having a slugging match with the fucking Pope right now
