The International - they should make more of these espionage thrillers
It's okay, but essentially familiar old guff.

Dirty Harry just being one of the immortal series the guy started. You cannot also forget his Man With No Name work in a Fistful of Dollars and beyond.
The man is legendary. He's made some superb movies as a director too. In particular, Unforgiven is one of my favourite movies: he deconstructs the Leone heroic gunfighter mythos wonderfully.

In Bruges - Not a bad movie. Some hilarious scenes, some emotional ones. This movie had a surprisingly good balance. Plus, this was one of the only roles in which Colin Farrell didn't annoy the hell out of me.
It's probably his most authentic Dublin accent too. I'm biased: the writer/director and stars (except Ralph F) are Irish, but I enjoyed In Bruges a great deal.

And clemence Poesy is rele hot in that role.
There's an argument about Hollywood defined hotness. Poesy is something else.

Oh, and just to add some fuel to the fire: Megan Fox is overrated, in both looks and acting.
No one rates Megan Fox as an actress.

True story: Michael Bay made her audition by washing his Ferrari while he filmed her. I think this sums up her acting abilities nicely.

Pan's Labyrinth ,great indeed:tup:
I thought the fascist captain was too over the top: I got that he was evil the first six times he did something horrific, thanks muchly.

That said, the movie is gorgeous. I'm really looking forward to seeing what he does with The Hobbit.

Just caught Public Enemies, the first film i have actually enjoyed for a long time, the hired one hell of a sound mixer aswell. This is a really good film that is actually doing something rather than repeating something.
Yeah, but what the hell does it mean? It being Mann, I suspect the answer is nothing, and the film is gorgeous, but that's not quite enough to make a great film.

I also saw The Fountain the other night, which I liked a lot. It's different, very strange, and for all the convolutedness of the storytelling, it lacks subtlety (how people thought it incoherent is beyond me), but overall it's an interesting, unique little film. Worth a look.

One of Scorsese's lesser knowns was on TV here last night: Bringing in the Dead. I think it's under appreciated.

I've seen El laberinto del fauno as well like few months ago and I must say it was pretty good.

And I also wonder how will The Hobbit go. I expect something pretty big coming from Guillermo del Toro and Peter Jackson.

I don't understand why that movie is often overlooked when people are talking about Scorsese. The atmosphere alone in this movie is reason enough to watch it.

The little girl in it is amazing & the movie is good, no doubt about it. But it is not as good as it's made out to be imo.

Any one saw "The Taking of Pelham" ?
I had high expectations from this film, hoping that would be one of the best for 2009...
Haven't seen it yet, but since it's a remake I'm not expecting too much, even with all the talent involved. Especially when you consider the original was quite good, so imo there was no reason to remake it.

Watched Clear and Present Danger again: Not a great classic, but still a mostly decent & enjoyable movie.

Casino Royale & Quantum of Solace

James Bond would kick Jason Bourne's ass anyday of the week

BTW No one (and I mean no one) could play the [only] girl who JB falls in love with better than Eva Green.

One Eyed Monster - this is the (horror / comedy) story of a couple of people who head out into the woods to shoot an adult film, starring Ron Jeremy. Out there something extra-terrestrial appears and everyone ends up being hunted by a dick! I just had to see this :D

The movie delivers everything you'd expect: unbelievably bad acting, ridiculous plot, crappy effects, ...
Still, there is some fun to be had with the, at times, hilarious dialogues and one liners.
