Black Irish. One of those movies which could make you cry, not because someone is dying or because someone has a terminal illness or etc. It'd shake you because you are feeling that you've seen all these people and you've known them for years throughout the movie. You think you're sympathizing with them and their hopeless struggles to make the things all right but in fact you're sympathizing with yourself. You're not unaccustomed to those hopeless efforts because you know them. It could be the story of your life, the story of your close friend's life, the story of your neighbor's life. Black Irish was a very real and moving film. The acts were all superb. Ever since I watched In Bruges I've always wanted to see Brendan Gleeson in another movie and gratefully I got the chance to watch him in Black Irish.

The best animation I've ever seen. It wasn't merely an animation though. From a 5 year old kid to a 80 year old man could watch this movie and enjoy it. One of the bests of 2008 I dare to say. The music was also wonderful.

P.S. Except for the times you're watching Shanghai Surprise I like your taste in movies Cigdem :D

quite touching but hard to believe any child could be THAT naive in the face of such obvious cruelty
