I agree of the low brow quality of horror movies in overall, the few of them are physchologically mind fucks and scary in that way, how humans can be and such, which is the only compelling parts of horror movies for me (Hitchcock esque stuff). But IMO the Mist was a very good, for how it showed how messed up people can be. The monsters didnt scare me nearly as much as how the people behaved, even if the monsters were aptly and delicately done. Not over the top, just enough.
But yeah, that fanatic womans death is the sweetest death I seen in a long while, I and all I watched it with actually visibly cheered when she died. She was one fucked up scary bitch. Extremely well done.
