Taken.

A quite great and entertainingly raw action thriller with Liam Neeson. Bit like a retired Jason Bourne, really liked this flick, even though it was so short and didnt go into details of that work, it was still really well done. Luc Besson
I'm sold. If it turns out to suck, I'm coming for you :D

Dont expect too much, I prolly liked it alot because I love Jason Bourne (mainly books) AND because I knew nothing of the movie hence had no expectations.

Haha, I liked the key word of shot in the stomach more, you DONT miss with this fucker I can tell you that much :D

I love Ludlum myself, as a matter of fact I'm reading Bourne Identity right now. Oddly enough I don't like it as much as some of his later books, the storytelling seems way more refined.

I just started the third book myself, anxious to read as much as possible (though Ludlum sucks in sappy romance bits, bit too melodramatic, but great in everything else).

And since this is the movie thread, its awesome its going to be a 4th Bourne movie  Even if its based on the 4th book Ludlum didnt write. Though it doesnt matter much, even if dig the movies, they are just basically based on the books from the titles alone, not much of the plot (no Carlos...etc). But they managed to do a very good job with their scaled down scripts that have little to nothing to do with the books.

P.S Bourne books are the only Ludlum stuff I read, but checking up what his others are about, he seems to write exactly the kind of elaborate clever stuff I dig. And hehe, his book titles rock.

That's why I'm a little disappointed. I read The Prometheus Deception, The Ambler Warning and The Rhinemann Exchange and they all have a different feel to them. What excites me most about these books is the psychology of it. How you can look at someone and immediately know if he's a normal person or professional killer. How you can be unseen in a crowd despite cameras everywhere and people tracking you. And that seems a bit forgotten in Bourne Identity.

Love the movies though.

i'm sorry but are you guys reading the books based on the films or the original books? personally i loved the books, loved the whole carlos the jackal plot line and the development of bourne as a tortured soul. the films were great but are only very loosely based on the original books, which are set about 20 years ago

i have also read the sigma protocol and the bancroft strategy which are also very good books, ludlum was superb

Bozi, I had you pencilled in for a later appointment. I was going to read all the books and then give you a full report. Just a little impromptu here with Osman. :)

Wow, so you are saying his other stuff does the spy mind games EVEN BETTER? :D Haha, here was I loving Jason Bourne books exactly for that, while you say its his weaker stuff in that regard, hehe (I really hope you are right, because that means I have alot to look forward to). But seriously, the Bourne books are really great, the second in China is good, by the first one (and 3rd one so far) regarding his tit for tat mind games and chase after Carlos is IMMENSE stuff IMO.

Thats why the Movies even if they are lovely, are quite poor in comparison, they somehow not only ignored an epic character like Carlos the Jackal, but alot of the finer details of this spy game.

P.S Not as elaborate as Jason Bourne stuff, but if you like spy action thrillers like these (and more asian oriented), I would highly recommend John Rain book series. They are making a movie about him soon.

Well, read them and let me know what you think. I was enchanted myself.

I'm actually pleased that with Bourne the books and movies tell different stories. As much as I love the movies, it means I have brand new stories in the books waiting for me. :D
