Conclusion: Any movie that has drugs in it is worthless according to Martin.
I need no more to discuss movies with you.
Not really. And my opinion is not as egregious as you think. When I said "Britmovies", which is a very vague term to use, I meant the recent trend of British movies trying to have mass appeal Hollywood style, trying to be mainstream. Of which the whole "28 days" saga is a prime example. Children of men too. And they fail miserably.
The other movies you mentioned weren't made in the last 2-3 years so that alone doesn't put them in this category. That aside, they also have a more niche appeal and aren't trying to
just sell. And they don't deserve such harsh criticism either (I was baiting you a bit

). I'd say they're average, nothing special. Trainspotting probably stands out as the best one.
The best British movie I remember is "Billy Elliot", which was completely off beat, had its own appeal and wasn't trying to fit into any kind of mainstream mold.
As for movies with drugs or about drugs, your hypothesis is pretty far from the mark. First of all, you can hardly watch an action movie (some of which I like) without watching something related to drugs. Secondly there are some movies that portray the problem in a very interesting way, like "Traffic" which was great.
