I just saw “the departed” at a friends place last nite and I must say that as a follower of Scorsese films I was not impressed . This flick is shit compared to ca$ino and goodfellas. I thought the cast was not good, being that di caprio is just not a good actor and damon should stick with doing bourne movies. Nicholson doesn’t fit the part of a boss at all. The academy fittingly gave Scorsese an oscar cuz they owed it to him. Especially when three-six mafia won an oscar last year and score boarded Scorsese in front of the entire industry :eyebrows:. This film didn’t garner an award, his body of work did IMO. I just wish it was Ca$ino that got him glory not this piece of sh*t on film.

I was deeply disappointed that a 2.5 hr remake of a 1.5 hr film, which copied the key scenes shot for shot, was considered for an Oscar. I'd rather they had him re-release one of his old films and give him the Oscar for that - more honest. I've long since given up on the Oscars meaning anything anyway.

That's one of my favourite movies.

And glad to see I was not the only one who didn't fall in love with The Departed. Aside from Mark Wahlberg's character which I loved, it was an okay movie.

while the departed is not one of scorsese's best films i dont agree taht it was terrible. the acting was solid, if unspectacular but the only problem i have is that with a whole hour of aded content over the original you still feel that the characters stories are rushed.

but i would rather watch the original or one of MS classics
