I saw The Accountant 2 in cinema today. Overall I enjoyed it, but it does move significantly away from the core ethos of the first film. If you haven't seen it, Ben Affleck stars as Christian Wolff, a highly skilled accountant with autism who moonlights as a forensic accountant for criminal organizations.

I also saw The Amateur a few weeks ago. It is mid. Nothing really noteworthy here or anything you haven’t seen before. If you want to see a good spy thriller, go see Black Bag.

I'm looking forward to accountant 2, didn't even know they were making one until saw trailer of it yesterday on screening of Sinners.

How does it move away from the ethos of 1st one? Is it more flashy (spy adventure with his brother?) and in your face slapstick action? The trailer gave that vibe a little.

While 1st one was more lowkey and calculating, just a methodical guy going to work in Jason Bourne type perfect professional type story.

i am always wary of sequels, but i like anything with jon benthal. and this is probably closest we will get to him being in another punisher appearance.

Yeah, the sequel has much more action and comic relief. While the tone is different, it doesn't kill the movie, and I love that Jon Bernthal actually has a prominent role here and wasn’t completely wasted like he was in The Amateur earlier this month. They could have called this The Accountant 2 : Double Entry :lol3:

I think I read somewhere that they're planning a third film already so it'll be a trilogy.

If you're looking for a brilliant movie to check out, I highly recommend "Nine Queens" which was released in 2000 (Spanish: Nueve reinas). It's a slick Argentinian crime thriller that pulls you into a world of con artists, double-crosses, and unexpected twists. It's about two con artists who team up to sell counterfeit rare stamps to a wealthy foreign collector. The whole time you are trying to figure out who is conning who. The ending is fantastic.

This movie holds a special place for me. It was actually one of the first foreign films I ever watched. For fellow Aussies, this was on SBS - back in the days when teenage boys (myself included) would tune in late at night hoping to stumble across some good porn. Instead, I got hooked on an absolute gem of a film.

I couldn't find it on any Aussie streaming service so I purchased the Blu-ray.
