Vozvrashchenie - Pretty great and powerful movie with plenty of emotions seeing two kids trying to make a bond with a father who was missing for 12 years. Some things left unsaid but I believe it made the movie even better. I'm yet to see Leviathan but Zvyagintsev surely has a huge future ahead of him, pretty unique director and something that's missing nowadays.

He's great in that movie, I admit. But in his latest movies I can't help but feel that Tom Cruise is doing the Tom Cruise routine. Lots of actors have similar problems, I think of Jack Nicholson and Mel Gibson in particular. Others are better at changing up, like Christian Bale (Batman - the Machinist - Public Enemies) or Brad Pitt (Troy - Seven - Fight Club)
That's a total valid point but how can you say that is actors problem? Tom Cruise surely focuses on a particular branch of the movie and sticks to action movies although he does pretty damn good in dramas like A Few Good Men or Rain Man. I believe that he could nail any other role, though, and I still think he's quite underrated unlike Pitt and Bale. But yeah, those other two surely cover different roles, especially Brad Pitt who did great even as a lunatic in Twelve Monkeys.
