Lack of quality movies nowadays is nothing but worrying.

Getting sick of all special effect and children rubbish that's coming out.
Damn right it is. It annoys the fuck out of me.

Having that said, i'm looking for a few good movies out there. But to watch on my own, so action/thriller, but with a good plot/acting preferably

Kinda liked the daniel craigh bond movies, and the first 3 bourne ones. Anyone got some suggestions ?

Meanwhile, severely missing the 2000-2010 period, since then there have been so few good movies. I recall when i was dating my ex that there was nearly every week something good in cinema

Jesus Dusan... (No, first bit isn't part of your name) you're just watching the wrong films bro. Hollywood has gone down the drain lately. Independent and foreign cinema when looked at on a large scale, it's excellent right now.

I check out a couple film festivals each year and see anywhere from 10-25 films at each. A good 50-70% of the films are excellent dependent on my luck and just how much time I spend checking to see whether each film is worthwhile.

For example. I saw at least 10 films at VIFF this year that I would rate 7.5/10 or higher.

Speaking of a worthwhile American film that just showed up on torrent sites in high quality recently.

Frank. Excellent film. Very darkly comic. Morbid even. I quite enjoyed it and certainly recommend others check it out.

The hipster is dead bro. Besides, hipsters were white kids in the 40s and 50s that were obsessed with black culture and "jungle jazz"... Remember Ginsberg's poem Howl, with his "Angel-haired hipsters" written in the 50s.

Modern hipster is a myth!

Recently watched a new black and white Polish film. @piotrr and @radekas know which one I'm talking about. :tuttosport:
You're talking about 'Ida'? Haven't seen it yet, i'm not really into dramas.

--

Interstellar was so unrealistic
black dude was supposed to die first ..

On a serious note, i really enjoyed it until the scene with the black hole and 5dimensional bookshelf. I'd rather see them arriving on Edmunds planet. :p It's funny how without the Cooper's involvement this would be probably the first planet to visit.
Miller's had some tough luck if you think about it. She could have waited years on hers planet for the rescue if not the giant waves. :D

The more I think about Interstellar, the less sense it makes.

the movie has a circularity problem.

The way I see it: Humans are fighting a battle which they will most definitely lose on planet earth, as the crops are dying out and the planet is slowly losing it's capacity to sustain a human population. Suddenly a wormhole appears, through which they find a habitable planet.

The ending of the movie suggests that the wormhole was put there by evolved humans. How could humanity evolve into five dimensional beings without the wormhole in the first place? Surely humanity would be extinct had it not been for that.

I might have misunderstood something completely tho :p

Not enough, they should make more!

I personally enjoy this ambitious drive and willingness to put superhero stories on the big screen in bigger and better productions, mainly by Marvel.

Gone are the days when only on screen depictions for your superhero nostalgia was lois & Clark or incredibly campy and retarded efforts to reboot Batman with Van Kilmer or Clooney.
But the majority of the movies they put out are shit. Out of the entire Marvel franchise, Iron man 1, the first X-Men and Days of Future Past and Captain America: The Winter Soldier are the only enjoyable movies for me.

My problem with the Marvel movies is not that they're bad or anything, but they're just so extremely bland and repetitive. Seriously, I enjoyed the first few installments, but since then there has pretty much been 0 innovative material.

Granted, it is very difficult to introduce truly original or creative elements in superhero movies, and to be honest I don't quite know myself what exactly I would change. Also, they have no real incentive to change their formula, it is a solid and reliable source of profit, so I can't even blame them for producing the extravagant amount of installments they're planning. I just know that I probably won't watch them.

To be honest. The only person who suggests it were humans after all is Cooper himself who is just taking a guess and TARS even says that he doesn't think humans could have done that.

Just watched The Babadook. Pretty decent for a modern horror movie. It's not your regular cheap tricks jump-off-your-seat scary flick and the monster here is not the main focus on the history as it develops. She and her depression and denial is. Pretty well acted as well and plus for the distinctive approach.

I'm gonna watch Interstellar tonight. My expectations are high, epsecially since people here criticize it.
It's a great movie for anyone fascinated by the Universe.

Piotrr calling it unrealistic is also not really true since that 99% of this movie was consulted with this guy http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kip_Thorne. Sure not everything is pure science but this is truer to the current state of our knowledge than any previous sci-fi movie.

I called it unrealistic only to make a joke that's in the spoiler. :p It's a sci-fi after all.
