I agree, he's not on that level, but he is certainly a great actor.
More Raging Bull, less Meet the Fockers when you say that.

Reading Rainbow, Geordi La Forge...

I haven't seen it, but those type of movies don't really interest me in the first place. Not because I don't care about the subject matter, but because whenever a movie like that comes out, I feel like they get overrated and people feel like they have to be overly sympathetic & politically correct about it. So whenever a movie about slavery or racism comes out, it's going to get a lot of nods at the awards regardless of how good it was.

Since I haven't seen it, it could very well have been a great movie, I'm just saying what tends to happen. "Crash" winning in 2005(?) is another example of this.
When that Crash first came out, I was thinking, "WTF? They remade the Cronenberg flick already?"

I prefer that one to the Oscar winner.

12 years a slave's problem is that it is thoroughly uninteresting.
Someone's bitter the ode to wall street didn't win.:D

I don't think Wolf of Wall Street was Oscar worthy, and I honestly don't think Scorsese intended for it to be. It's too wild, for lack of a better word. But I really liked it, it's gonna be talked about much more than the rest of the nominations in the future. Great pick for DiCaprio's career.

I just watched Dallas Buyers Club. Whoa.

Infinitely better movie than 12 years a slave, while we're on the whole awwards thing. Matthew Mcconaughey > DiCaprio

Yeah, but sad movie about AIDS and trannies compared to a badass movie with drugs, money, and naked hot bitches?

The second one wins the longevity award, that's all I'm saying.

I'm not saying it's better than Wolf, necessarily. It's just a much more obvious Oscar winner and it's hardly worse.

I loved Wolf of Wall Street - thought Leo indulged in some slight overacting at times, but the role was hard to pull off.

I loved that movie more that 12 years a slave, 2 great performances, but it's gotten some criticism about the story that's probably why it didn't get the oscar. Apparently, the cowboy guy wasn't really a homophobe. People who knew him back then say he didn't have a problem with gays. I'm like whatever, it doesn't really paint him in a bad light.

Leo was great in Wolf. Unfortunately he was great as Howard Hughes, great as Jay Gatsby, and great as Calvin Candy. The problem is those characters are all basically the same. Leo's got to switch it up like he did with The Departed, Shutter Island, Blood Diamond.
