12 Years a Slave has got to be the worst movie ever to win the "best movie" award.

Lupita Nyong'o's award for supporting actress is a joke as well. All she did was cry, shout and scream. You can get that from any amateur actress in a low budget horror flick.

The Great Beauty was not great enough to grant an Oscar either. The Hunt and Blue Is the Warmest Color which wasn't even nominated are much better movies.

It won 3. Gravity won 7.
It won three major oscars. I havent watched Gravity yet, but I saw what categories it was nominated for and it seems in tune with the reviews Ive read.

I couldnt even believe that guy was nominated for best actor, let alone that he won it.b

I didn't watch that one.

As for me, huge disappointed to see Gravity grab all those. I didn't buy the hype around it, huge let-down for me.
Gravity won all the technical categories. Which considering it is ground breaking 3D, fits. Then it won Best Director which is acknowledging that Cauron did something important, which I'm fine with even though personally I would have given it to Greengrass for Captain Phillips.

So what is this all about Leo not getting an Oscar a big thing? Do you guys think he should have gotten one at some point?

But he's quite popular isn't he? I'm just asking because I haven't been watching any moves for more then 5 years or more.

Like you should pip a person who puts out a performance of a lifetime in the one movie they did just because of some sentimental vote for some actor who has slogged in 2nd and 3rd place for many movies/years. The concept is silly.

Best goes to the best of the year. They're not career or lifetime awards.

The give out honorary oscars to notice a body of work.
