2001 a space Odyssey

I can appreciate it as a piece of art especially considering the time it was made but as a movie I didn't feel too entertained and don't think I will want to watch it again.

The story line didn't blow me away but I was impressed by the visuals. I can imagine back in the day this would of been amazing and unique. I guess I've seen too many space movies to be able to appreciate it properly now.

Im interested to hear why people still love it and why it is considered one of the greatest movies of all time. Is it purely based on the visuals, sound track and what would of at one time been a unique look at technology and space?
You've broken my heart. It's in my top 5 favorite movies.

Btw, I've seen 1917 twice at the cinema ;).
THAT scene that happens immediately after the only visible cut in the movie...I just have no words.

Can you explain what you like so much about it ? I want to like it but I just don't. I don't wanna criticise it though because I appreciate that it is well loved and respected.

saw knives out the other day. nice movie, didnt expect. daniel craig is super

and yesterday i watched marriage story, such a shitty movie. could have puked how much this role of a man annoyed me
I'm not a big fan of Adam Driver and his role in this Oscar bait movie did nothing to change that.

That's really sad. But damn, he was so old! Legend. I loved his movies.

So there's a film festival coming to my town this month (at the end of February and beginning of March).

Any suggestions? Lots of shit movies that's for sure. I've noticed some decent ones. So far as the only must watch is A Hidden Life! Kinda surprised it's here but I have to watch it. What do you think about others? Any underground gem?

Whoever hasnt watched “the deer hunter” should watch it. Great slow movie. It’s like every scene is perfect. John Cazale was gonna become one of the best actors if he didnt die too early.

  • ANDREJ TARKOVSKIJ. IL CINEMA COME PREGHIERA / ANDREY TARKOVSKY. A CINEMA PRAYER
  • APOCALYPSE NOW FINAL CUT (if you haven't watched Apocalypse Now, can't remember. The original cut is better though, but this is better than Redux)
  • Boże Ciało / Corpus Christi
  • HONEY BOY
  • JOJO RABBIT
  • NABARVENÉ PTÁCE / THE PAINTED BIRD
  • Wings of Desire / Der Himmel über Berlin
  • THE LIGHTHOUSE

The above ones are the ones I'd be interested in seeing. I'm sure I missed some films because of the language though. :D I have only seen Apocalypse Now, Wings of Desire, Jojo Rabbit and The Lighthouse at this point, so can't vouch for the rest.

I'd be particularly interested in watching A Hidden Life, The Painted Bird and Andrey Tarkovsky. A Cinema Prayer though.

I watched those.

Yeah, those were on my list as well (bar Honey Boy :D). I'll try to catch as many as I can.
