I thought End game was a bit of a let down. Althiugh I enjoyed it over all there was a few really cringe worthy scenes that ruined it for me.

Had some nice feel good and emotional emotional moments though mostly because of nostalgia and love for some of the characters.

The story felt a bit lazy at times and some of the plot didn't make sense.

Was like a lazy attempt at doing something similar to inception or Interstellar.

@Dostoevsky

Have you watched Wojciech Jerzy Has' other masterpiece Rękopis znaleziony w Saragossie yet?

Watched it again tonight for the first time in several years. Blew my mind, just like last time. Fucking brilliant director.

Now I need to go reread Jan Potocki's book again. It's been a dozen years. So many books to read and reread, so little time. :sigh:

I did try to download it but I had no luck. It had like one seeder and it wouldn't even start. I really want to check out more of his stuff. He seems really unique and fucking crazy and that is really rare. It's just that his style is so authentic that his movies are like a dream. Sanatorium pod Klepsydra left a big mark after watching it. It's really hard to even describe the movie and to talk about it and it's why I think it's awesome.

That book of his was sold out here. I don't think I can even find it at this point. But I just managed to find it second hand for like 10e. Should I buy? Or better question, should I skip the movie until I read the book?

As for your last sentence... I really don't know what to tell you. Books generally woke up a passion in me. Sometimes I feel like going into the mountains alone, living there and doing agriculture on my own so I can live like that. I'd just save 1000-2000e and buy the books. So I could just spend my years reading and writing. And messing around with girls surely. My point is that, once again, when I work, I can hardly put any time into that and it's literally killing me because I don't enjoy the work that I do. Plus it's really, really low wages which aren't helping. Lastly, so many awesome books I'd like to dive into from so many different countries. It's really horrible. I'm also into comics as I do see an art in it, especially European ones. It's easier to digest at this point because it takes less time and concentration but I still miss the books. I really want to go deeper with German and French literature. But my biggest focus would be Serbian authors who are among the best imo. No joking. And of course I'd focus on the rest of the Russian and then I'd just roam around randomly. After some period of reading way too much (as it happened before) I'd like to focus on creating rather than reading. I'm yet to publish this book which is finished but hell, I plan to write so much more. Sooo much more. Hopefully life allows me that.

I feel you on the books, man. Sometimes I just want to build a little cabin on an island in the Salish Sea here, retire now, and live there growing food, reading books, and writing. One day. I can’t even pick a country to focus on. Long ago it was Russian writers, then the French, then the South Americans, then the Americans, then the Hungarians for a few years (still might love them best), then the Poles, then the Georgians, and so on. I want to read everything for everywhere. Haha.

I highly recommend the book, it’s a classic. Kind of Decameron or Arabian Nights style. 10 euros is a good price, I’d imagine.

So... as far as his (and other Eastern European) movies go, YouTube has a bunch of them in original language without subs... but most of them have subtitles available online in .srt format. Google Chrome has an extension available that called subtitles for YouTube that allows you to search for or upload .srt files to play with movies on there that don’t have subs. There’s even instructions for delaying or advancing subs to sync with movie.

You didn't answer the most important question. :D Watch movie first or delay it until book is read?

As for the first part of your post... yes, that is exactly me. :D

It's one of those film adaptations that is great enough that I find it doesn't really matter which way you go first.

It's the same with his Hourglass Sanatorium which is an adaptation of a collection of Bruno Schulz stories. Both are brilliant, order you encounter them is irrelevant imo.

Some people though just have a thing where they refuse to watch a film adaptation before reading a book, and that's alright too... It doesn't bother me so much in the case of fantastic films, for example, Bela Tarr's Werckmeister Harmonies which I saw long before reading László Krasznahorkai's The Melancholy of Resistance and have no less love for both because of it.

 I'll watch the movie first, then. I can hardly find time for books at this point so I won't postpone it much.

What sort of movies do you generally prefer?
I pretty much enjoy any movie that is quality. I have trouble getting specific because after a while I tend to forget which movie marked me if you were to ask me. even if I would remember the movie if someone brought it up. Hope you get what I mean haha.

I'm open to many genre

Do you mind subtitles? And contemporary or classic or both?

I watched Avengers Endgame last night. I really liked it. I'll repeat again: I'm no fan of super hero movies and I didn't like majority (actually I think majority is total shit bar some expections) but considering it's more than 10 years of filming and more than 20 movies, I'd say the final chapter was perfect. Whoever watched all of the movies throughout these 10 years I believe he will appreciate the movie even more. Infinity War was also great. Yet again my theory is confirmed that without a villain that makes sense it will be a shit movie. Thanos is just amazing and imo the best part of the both movies. He's like Genghis Khan of Marvel universe lol. There are some parts which I didn't like but it was just small-ish details that I can ignore. Part when Thanos talked for a bit was the best part for me because I love his theory of why he wants to kill all of the people. I liked Cpt America and Ironman and I think they exaggerated with Thor in this one with the jokes. Great ending of the saga (last two movies) and hopefully they will stop making it in the future. However that is not likely to happen.

Spoiler alert: I do not know how to hide everything I wrote in Tapatalk so you should know that if you read the following ramblings there are massive spoilers for GOT and Avengers:Endgame.

Endgame and last episode of Game of thrones killed definitely the sci-fi, fantasy and comics genre for me. I am not sure I will watch superhero movie again on big screen. I do not expect much of GOT anymore also but it is on HBO so I pay for it monthly and probably watch the rest.
The biggest issues with these genres I have is that even in the best written books and scripts logic does not really matter and everything is possible. In the darkest moments of hoplessness there is always this Deus ex machina moment, or some bullshit destiny involvement or magic that saves the plot and our heroes respectively. The writer could pull everything from his ass and the sheep will devour it unquestionably. And something especially irritating with Endgame and the last episode of GOT was that they made a joke of the biggest vilians and the main protagonists. They did it only to shock the viewers briefly and to give more prominance to secondary characters that serve some misinterpreted PC and identity politics.
Thanos and NK were reduced to brainless murderous robots that were shadows of their former glory. Their demise was brief(NK thousands of years old omnipotent necromancer was stabed with kitchen knife and he and his army vanished in a second, the biggest cliche in fantasy movies. I will not be surprised if he comes back in the next episodes though. Performing resurections in these movies is just a minor inconveniance for the writers ) inevitable and everything that led to that moment was full of inconsistencies.
Dragon Queen and Jon Snow spent the episode doing mostly nothing and wasting many of their people with ridiculous military Vabanque. Here Allegri could have helped for once.
And Thor, o, the mighty Thor. He was demoted to a third rate, pathetic excuse for a living creature - once one of the mightiest characters is now a fat drunkard addicted to Fortnite. Basically a quinessential Arturo Vidal. This automatically devalued the movie with at least 2 stars.
I should stop here because I liked very little of what I watched yesterday. Double dose of disapointment in one day was too much. At least I watched Endgame in a small theater close to my hometown and not in a big city as it was two times cheaper and as a result I do not feel so screwed.
I will have to rewatch all season of The Wire and reread everything from Joyce, Wilde and Heminguay in the next months in order to detoxicate myself.
