I like a silly Hollywood movie as much as the next guy but those stereotyped pictures barely require proper acting. All that Overactwood actors do is to sell painful looking face-seizures as emotions since the audience doesn't have much time to decrypt a human face between a pack of milk duds and a bag of soft pretzels.

Don't get me wrong, for Quentin Tarantino exaggeration is a stylistic device which makes his movies but it's barely a challenging role for somebody like Waltz to unfold his talent.

Well, people change. Opinions change. I used to dislike The Matrix, but I watched it as a kid. I decided to give it another go last night, so I watched it again (I'm talking about part I). Okay, so I think this movie is brilliant. I missed way too much, or actually, I missed pretty much everything 10 years ago. It's filled with symbolism. But not just that, I think it was subtle and it gets you thinking throughout the whole movie. There's a whole lot of philosophy in there. First off, I think the whole world behind Morpheus (God of dreams) was neat, while Trinity (the trinity) has a unique role when it comes to the revival, new hope, etc. It's also the dialogs, there were way too many that were deep which covered the hardest subjects like truth, dreams, the creator, and pretty much everything else being carried by the one. The beginning it self reminded me of Josef K, Kafka's work, where he's being chased by the unknown for the arrest for something he's not aware of, so it has quite the extensionalism covered in it. Cast was also quite decent, special effects good (great enough in that period when it came it out), so overall a really great sci-fi, which gives a whole lot while being re-watchable. I wish there were more movies like this one, which aren't just an action-show being thrown left and right without any purpouse but entertain the average Joe.
You might as well like "Equilibrium" (if you haven't already watched it :p)

"Equilibrium is set in 2072 in Libria, a city-state established by the survivors of World War III, which devastated the world, where a totalitarian government requires all citizens to take daily injections of "Prozium II" to suppress emotion and encourage obedience. All emotionally stimulating material has been banned, and "Sense Offenders" – those who fail to take their Prozium – are put to death, as the government claims that the cause of all wars and violence is emotion."
