Juve lose sight of Jankulovski
Friday 9 July, 2004
Marek Jankulovski’s proposed switch to Juventus has been put on hold after Udinese dubbed the offer “entirely inadequate.”
The Czech Republic midfielder, who played in Euro 2004 as a full-back, has been in their transfer plans for several months.
After negotiations throughout the summer, it was reported that the weekend would see the deal finally completed in exchange for £2.5m cash plus co-ownership of either Matteo Brighi or Alessandro Parisi.
However, this evening Udinese representatives told journalists camped outside their headquarters that “Juve’s offer is entirely inadequate.”
Another meeting with director general Luciano Moggi is planned for next week, but he will be forced to raise the Bianconeri bid considerably.
27-year-old Jankulovski’s fine performance in the European Championships improved his international profile and there is plenty of overseas interest from Tottenham and a selection of Spanish sides.
