Had a poor game, but his passing and touch were perfectly on point in the last 10 minutes while we defended the lead.

Some of our players need to stop passing him the ball in spaces where he’s already under pressure from a player or two when he receives it. It’s amazing he doesn’t give away the ball more often, but even then it leads to too many backpasses straight to the CBs and kills our movement forward.

Pjanic also needs to get his head out of his ass during the comfortable parts of the game and get the ball moving forward quicker. He has a tendency to be very lazy and sloppy in such moments.

Our midfield is not impressive. But it has nothing to do with Marchisio.

I'd say our midfield issues are related to our creativity issues in attack. It goes both ways. We just need a better gameplan. For me, it's on Allegri that he doesn't seem to get a wing play formation going (wingers, not fullbacks), with that material we have. We shouldn't need to play 3 'average' guys in mid. Even if Pjanic, Matuidi and Bentancur are not best of the bests, then we should be able to find a solid balance overall, and dominate everyone outside top 3, maybe even Barca, Real and Bayern. We have so good players in every other position.

These comments have more to do with just having another competent player to throw on a give someone a rest. Look at the state we're in now, 3 healthy midfielders? Suicidal. Homie needs to breathe a little from time to time.

Right as always.

He has played 1771 minutes already. As a comparison, Cristiano has played 1469 minutes, Chiellini has played 1353 minutes and Dybala has played 1380 minutes.

So a midfield of Matuidi, Pjanic, Bentancur, Can, Khedira should not be enough? To get this straight:
We were simply stupid to get rid of a highly paid cribble, as we SHOULD have known that Allegri suddenly can't play with 2 CMs or utilize subs, in a small period of time where injuries have hit us hard in the CM department.

I would say there are no crisis at all and we have the material needed. If we are in trouble it is solely on ourselves/Allegri and nothing to do with moving Marchisio on. Marchisio doesnt even play in Zenit.

I have to agree to an extent. As much as I love Claudio he was not reliable anymore. In his last 10 games for Zenit he played 90 minutes only in 3 of them.

You don't think we are desperately short of numbers in midfield? People criticized Allegri for his 2 man midfield cuz it would get overrun by top teams, but now that he wants to control the center of the pitch, it's a problem?
So the reason why you say we are stupid to let Marchisio go, is that some people in here have complained that we would get overrun with a 2 man midfield, and now other people in here are worried about a potential prospect of having to play some games with a 2 man midfield, so because of that, our management have been stupid and letting Marchisio go was retarted... Thats a complex story with logic twists, some actual bullshit, so right back at you with that one.

Btw, there has never been any evidence/signs that a 2 man midfield is getting run over. Personally I feel we have seen the opposite. Last season our midfield got run over regularly, and we played with 3 man most of the time. Playing 3 men as CMs doesnt mean that the midfield is stronger than playing with 2. Why would anyone play with 2 if that was the case. The midfield battle is super important. What matters more is that your 11 players have roles and duties, and dont cover the same spot and responsibilities. Putting in an additional mediocre midfielder because we are afraid of the 2 others not being able to fully do their job, just means that we are losing resources another place on the field, where we could have put a Costa/Cuadrado/Mandzukic or whatever, to try to play to our strengths. Thats my main point, that we have so many strengths this season, I dont see any reasons for panic and trying to cover up for something, when we can attack and use our strengths. Im sure the management and Allegri also aint worried.

not saying you're right or wrong but what ultra successful team do you know that fielded a 2-man midfield?

Juventus were one game away from the treble with it.
We're talking nearly? Leverkusen were 1 game away in 3 competitions from winning a historic treble but ended up winning nothing. Football works by fine margins especially at the highest level. Not to mention that final game ended 4-1 to the opposition..

Most teams either plays with 2 CMs or 3 where atleast one of them is a CAM like Isco, Kroos, Muller.. I haven't seen many teams fielding 3 average CMs who are primarily defensive. And especially not leaving players like Costa, Berna, Dybala or Cuads on the bench.
