I suppose iran being involved in weapons deals with israel during the lebanon civil during the embargo's against both countries has little relevance these days ....i guess they've never been supplied by Israel during the Iraq-Iran war.

And also, why would a nuclear power help another country become a nuclear power? It might seem logical now, but in 20-30 years that country might become Russia's enemy and if they're as crazy as Vinman thinks, they'll target Russia with the nukes.

If I was a country and a nuclear power, I'd prefer if as few countries possible have nukes.

The only safe route for nuclear weapons is for sovereign states to proliferate and the UN hold onto them and then not build more when they go out of date. If no one had them this is no longer a problem.

The Iranian government much like most governments are stupid but as you're saying I could never imagine anyone being so stupid to use nuclear bombs. I have relatives in Iran and I hate to see what's going on and has been going on for the past forty years. I am very certain however that the government will sooner or later fall. And their fall will come from within so there is no reason for anyone outside to try and hasten this progress. We have already seen the first steps towards this. I'm not sure what they are developing but even if they were developing it I wouldn't worry about that.

But they can't launch them, the don't have even a basic ICBM, if they did launch there limited stockpile it wouldn't hurt anyone and the rest of the world would instantly respond and destroy them. North Korea has very few friends and if they do something stupid - they wont stand up for them.

I feel really bad for the people that live in North Korea, they have such a bad rap to the rest of the world when they live in poverty.

Its the thing with Nuclear Weapon - MAD (Mutually Assured Destruction) still exists and always will. Its the reason no one launched during the cold war (even though the came close a number of times), and the reason no country would launch today, its all about the balance of power around the world. Whilst i don't agree with the pan islamist - theocratic rule in Iran, they, if they can, should be allowed to hold the same bargaining chips that the dominant powers in the world have.
