My roomi got his new laptop with Windows 7. Second day of using it he gets an error which we were unable to understand. The description was written (intentionally?) in such a way that it didn't make any sense whatsoever. WMP12 has things all over the place and I hate the taskbar which seems huge. I haven't used it much to understand how it scores points over Vista, but then I don't need to. Ubuntu's apostles (read JCK and Martin) has shown me the light :p

The beautiful thing about knowing about ubuntu is that you know you don't have to sit there and take the beating :D

The new taskbar is great. I was like "WTF" at first too, but you get used to it in a day and it has some nifty options. Only it's a pain trying to hide your local porn activity. :D

TBH, I've seen some crazy error msgs in Ubuntu myself. It's not like every message tells you exactly what's wrong and what to do to fix it.

And you can reduce the size of the taskbar on Win 7.
Ubuntu is far from being perfect. I encounter a lot of problems with it as well. But if I'm paying $200+ for an OS it better be good.

I love how we can pin stuff to the taskbar now :D
And its any day better than vista. At least my lappy doesn't turn into an oven after 2 hours of use.

I've been running 7 for over half a year now, installed the beta first and then the RTM. If it wasn't a "beta" I don't think I would have made another fresh install to this day. It's that good. Running as smoothly from day one. This is a great OS and if it gives you problems, it's due to your hardware most likely.
