Decent acquisition as long as he is regarded as a back-up and we are fielding a three-man midfield.
He's not better than Sissoko, Marchisio, Aquilani, Pirlo, Melo, or even the apple youngster, how's that "decent acquisition" more like pointless. Is free transfers Marotta's new fetish or something?

If we play three in midfield, Pazienza will probably get a lot of time this season, and if we reach Europe next year, he'll play even more. Pirlo and Aquilani don't have the greatest of fitness and Melo racks up the cards. I think Pazienza will play more than folks think.

Well, that's the thing, spots like these should be given to younger players. Pazienza could be our second oldest midfielder after Pirlo.

Might as well do. Why buy someone when he's no better if not worse then what you've already got? and why would you try to sign "back up" players when you've got so many holes in your first team?

It's complete bullshit bitching for this transfer. COMPLETE bullshit.

We haven't even seen what role he'll get in this team. If Sissoko goes and he comes in as a backup I have no problems with that. As far as I am concerned, he is only a backup. So Andy, tell me which DM for free would you bring in as Sissoko's replacement?

I'm sorry, what? A club should neglect strengthening it's entire squad by signing free players to function a backup players, because it has got other and more demanding needs?

Besides he was/is free. He won't cause a lack of transfer funds for other players.

I wouldn't bring any. How's that, Mr. Melo?

You brought up the whole Essien thing because you're upset someone is criticizing this move. I'm going to criticize the fuck out of this, because the only reason why Pazienza is here is because he's Italian. Period. He is NOT here on his footballing merit, which consists of NOTHING substantial at all. If he was any other nationality Marotta would have no interest in him because he's not a good player. It's as simple as that. I don't care if he's free... the same applies to someone like Pepe.

We are already loaded with backup players. The only thing this signing does is make our midfield weaker overall, so there's no reason to be happy about this. Just because you think it's "free" (which it isn't, because we're playing his wages) doesn't it make a good move. That's all you have to stand on, he's not Essien and he's free. Grow up already.

no need to get restless here - unless Conte is an utter idiot, which he obviously not, he knows well that Pazzienza is just a back up, bit player, whose only chance of getting on thefield is if 3-4 players before him get injured, and nothing more.

It is indeed debatable if for this role you won't be better off using one of your youngsters but then again, Pazzienza is not such a bad player to have for free - he has considerable experience and did start in majority of games for a team that finished 3rd last year, after all ... that does count for something.

Juve may not be playing CL but you guys still need some depth in the squad at the same time, however, there won't be enough important games on Juve's calendar, so that you can afford to have top-notch players for back up simply because they would want to play regularly and won't be happy with scraping the bench.
Pazzienza does fit that bill considering you will most likely sell Sissoko and maybe someone else of the less important mids too. Melo is likely to stay, if not, I am sure Juve will invest his transfer fee in another starting midfielder who will not be Pazzienza by any means.

Should Juve make the CL spots next season, unless Pazzienza turns out great performances on a regular basis this year, I don't see him staying to be part of the CL squad. With making the CL, Juve will have lots of money to invest - just making the groups brings in close to 30 mil - plus, the club again will be an attractive place for top players.
Above all, however, Juve will need two equally good players for pretty much every position on the field, which will most likely spell the end of Pazzienza's career at Juve - after all, just because you signed him this summer, doesn't mean you cannot sell him the next.
Right now, however, with Juve out of the CL, his presence on the team is more than fine for the back-up he will be.

Andy. I am not upset with the general criticize. I am upset with the criticizing for the wrong reasons.

If this was the first time we didn't use youngsters as backups I would understand you. We haven't EVER used youngsters as backups. Moggi even brought frickin Giannichedda!!!
Why did Reto Ziegler arrive? He is not Italian? I'll wait throughout the summer to see if your "Ita-Juve" argument is valid or not. At this time it doesn't mean shit.
