The older Pirlo gets the less true that will become. He's not going to fit into the 4-4-2/-4-2-4 and I don't think we'll have all the right players for a 4-3-3. Conte would never have bought Pirlo and now he has to change his plans to fit him in. Look how slow he is in that Parma video. He's a sitting duck to any opposition DCM.

Something like this:

Krasic-Lass-Pirlo-Bastos

could work in theory. I'd still prefer a three men midfield though.

To be fair, Pirlo has always been slow. He still is quality and would be a great asset in a 4-3-3.

Marchisio would suit the 4-2-4 much better than Pirlo and I'm one of Marchisio's biggest critics on this forum. Not a lot of the attack goes through the center of midfield in Conte's system and considering the wingers push up, full backs need to be hard working as well as the CMs. A lot of Milan fans were criticizing Pirlo last season for being such a liability in their midfield. Don't expect anything too different next season if we don't have Lass and Marchisio/Inler next to him in a 4-3-3.

That's why Conte has to use the 4-3-3, as he has done several times with Bari, Atalanta and Siena.

I am confident he will adapt his formation to the player we have, like he said he would.
That would be very very nice of his part, but guess what? We are still getting 4-4-2ish players. Just check the name of this thread.

you stating that he is a defensive winger shows that you probably haven't. Bastos in defense is a solid - not spectacular but in offense, he is one of the trickiest, quickest and most effective in the position. If you consider Milos offensive (which he definitely is - in fact, thats all he is) then at this stage, Bastos actually certainly better than Milos
I said Conte seems to prefer more offensive options than Bastos. And there are a few of those that we seem to want ahead of Bastos, which makes me wonder, that if we buy him, will we only use him as LB? What about that didn't you understand?

Buffon
Lichtsteiner-Bonucci-Chiellini-Ziegler
Inler-Pirlo-Marchisio
Krasic-Matri-Bastos

Pretty uninspiring if you ask me, top 3 would be hard to get.

As many know, I am not Vucinic's biggest fan but I'd prefer him on that left side than Bastos.
