and who votes? Players and coaches from many clubs will vote, and lets face it, messi is the most popular player around the globe
Not defending the award, or its system. I'm just saying Blatter's feelings towards Ronaldo, and who wins the Ballon D'Or are two completely different things.

The only player that I know of, is Pandev, and in the end it turned out to be a mistake by the Macedonian Federation.

Its too much of a risk for them to rig the voting, and then go on and publish the votes, don't you think?

To be honest, I don't give a fuck about FIFA and their awards.

Again, I'm not defending it either. It isn't the best way to determine the best player in the world, I'm just contending claims that FIFA rigs the votes, or Blatter has an influence on the votes, especially when the award is one of the few things FIFA is transparent about.

Watching the Rayo vs Madrid the other day, Ronaldo floated out of the game for 28 minutes (hardly sighted) after his 2nd goal.

Messi would never be out of a game for more than 7 minutes. Always involved and paramount to the teams attacking build up.

When you build a team around a single player, that's what happens though.

I understand that, but champion players will never allow themselves to drift out of games entirely. My point is that I will always consider Ronaldo to be just behind the top echelon of players, and this is one reason why.

I believe he is in the top 5 of the world right now, and has been for the past 6 years, although will never be at Messi's level - especially considering he is 2 years older.

The ballon d'or is a popularity contest.

The old trophee, was given by a selection of french football journalists from a reputated magazine, that was highly regarded.

Now, they let nearly everyone decide, so the most popular player wins it. Wich is completely retarded.

Nedved would have never won his ballon d'or like this. Zidane and ronaldo would have won 12 amongst them
