Cannavaro agrees Juve deal Monday 30 August, 2004

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There is still no official announcement but Juventus have virtually signed Fabio Cannavaro from Inter.

Both clubs agreed a deal over the weekend and the player has today sorted out personal terms with the Bianconeri.

The Italian international will sign a three-year contract after accepting to reduce his salary from around £3.2m to £2.1m a season.

Juventus are understood to have paid no fee after convincing Inter to accept Fabian Carini in a straight swap deal.

The Uruguayan ‘keeper, who underwent a medical today, has signed a four-year contract with the Nerazzurri who see him as a long-term replacement for Francesco Toldo.

The ‘keeper may not arrive at the San Siro until January, or even next summer, as he is currently on loan with Standard Liege.

Cannavaro will now team up with his former Parma colleagues Lilian Thuram and goalkeeper Gigi Buffon in Turin.

Congrats guys,

our incompetent management gave Cannavaro to you practically for free.

It sucks to be a Inter fan when our management does this kind of deals every season. When will they learn, i guess never. Well, **** them!

Like you said Tommi, it's a very poor deal from Inter's perspective but despair not, you have a very strong team this year, while Juve's roster is very incomplete. Both clubs will battle for the title I'm sure though. :)

Change Thuram for Birindelli and Tudor for Thuram... Cappelo said that he's going to use Thuram - Canna partnership that work wonders in Parma yeras ago...

This looks OK to me...

If we look at individual players we do have a pretty good squad.

(ANSA) - MILANO, 30 AGO - Cannavaro si lega alla Juve per tre anni, fino al 2007, percependo un ingaggio di circa 3 milioni di euro a stagione. Come contropartita arriva dalla Juventus all'Inter Fabian Carini.

:thumb: Brilliant. This squad is actually shaping out to be quite good. If Nedved, Del Piero and Trezeguet stay fit and in form we should be right up there with the two Milan clubs. Cannavaro is a much needed acquisition and will definitely strengthen the defence, and a great deal too.

Ciao Martin,

we sure do have a great team even without Cannavaro, but this trade makes no sense. I have no idea if Carini is as good as i´ve read (have any of you seen him play?). Even if he´s good, we have no use for him in couple of years.

In pre-season our defence has struggled (Canna didn´t play due to his tibia injury - I wonder how serious his tibia injury could be ´cause we almost gave him away?). We mostly used Cordoba-Materazzi pair which isn´t so bad, but i rather have someone like Cannavaro in my team than this donkey Materazzi. We signed Mancini which was a good thing to do, but he demanded us to sign this other donkey, Mihajlovic. How great is that? We also cancelled Adani´s contract, we bought him out. Now we have Cordoba, Burdisso (he´s injured), donkey Materazzi, donkey Mihajlovic. Oh man, i feel like crying.
