Fiorentina in Huntelaar hunt Tuesday 27 June, 2006

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Fiorentina reportedly have an agreement for Ajax starlet Klaas Jan Huntelaar, but their bid for Cristian Zaccardo seems set for failure.

The forward impressed when Ajax took on Inter in the Champions League earlier this season and became the subject of the most expensive domestic transfer in Dutch history when Ajax paid £6.2m to Heerenveen for the 22-year-old in January.

He had been linked with Juventus and Palermo, but there are now rumours that Fiorentina have a deal already lined up for the Dutch sensation.

“I want to play in an attacking side, close to goal and preferably with wing attackers,” he told UEFA.com. He was in the provisional squad for Germany 2006, but Coach Marco Van Basten preferred to go for players with more experience.

Huntelaar made up for that snub, proving decisive in Holland’s triumph at the Under-21 European Championships in May with four goals, including two in the Final.

This would suggest Luca Toni is indeed on his way to Inter, as the Nerazzurri have repeatedly hinted the Italian international wants the move.

Fiorentina have just bought Brazilian Reginaldo from Treviso, but look set to loan him out to Atalanta, while Marco Di Loreto is of interest to Empoli.

The Viola made a bid for Palermo defender Zaccardo, though that would appear to be a dead end. “I haven’t spoken to Fiorentina in two weeks,” confirmed agent Francesco Romano. “I get the feeling Zaccardo will stay at Palermo for another season, especially considering Francesco Guidolin’s return to the bench, as there’s always been a strong bond between them.”

martins leaves inter, toni goes to inter, huntelaar to viola??

    SPURS COMPLETE ZOKORA DEAL

Tottenham have clinched the signing of Ivory Coast midfielder Didier Zokora in a deal almost certain to spark fresh speculation over the future of Michael Carrick.

Zokora, who impressed at the heart of the Ivory Coast side during the group stages of the World Cup in Germany, is understood to have cost Spurs around £8.2million from French club St Etienne and has signed a five-year contract.

But his arrival will put the spotlight back on Carrick's future with Manchester United reportedly ready to test Tottenham's resolve to keep the England international with an increased offer.

United's initial £10million bid was rejected by Spurs but they are expected to return to the table with another bid of around £14million.

Spurs coach Martin Jol, who wants Carrick to stay, was delighted with the capture of 25-year-old Zokora.

Jol said: "Didier was regarded by a lot of people as one of the best midfield players going into the World Cup and he proved that in the group stage.

"A lot of clubs were after him and we had to compete for his services and he is a very good signing."

Zokora, who will begin training with the rest of the squad on July 21, is a graduate of the ASEC Abidjan academy responsible for the development of many of the current Ivory Coast internationals.

He joined RC Genk of Belgium in 2000 and was a member of their title winning team two years later.

Zokora spent four years in Belgium before joining St Etienne where he went on to make 66 appearances and quickly became recognised as one of the leading midfield talents in the country.

He is well known to Tottenham's sporting director Damien Comolli, who also signed him from Genk while he was at St Etienne.

Comolli added: "He is a player I know well and I believe he is an excellent signing for us. Didier has had two good years in France and an impressive World Cup.

"Martin was well aware of him also and he was one of the first players he talked to me about when I arrived."

Zokora, who was also pursued by Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea, was excited by the prospect of playing for a side that is building for the future.

"I am very proud to come here and I think it is a great club," said Zokora.

"I am extremely happy because I think there are a lot of really good players here and I am glad to be joining them.

"The core of the team is very young and we can build for the long term. This is something which really attracted me to the club."

However, Tottenham may now decide that with Zokora added to the playing staff, £14million for Carrick may just be too good an offer to turn down.

Zokora can play in the same defensive midfield role now occupied by Carrick at international level and Spurs may decide it makes good business sense to make a huge profit on the former West Ham player while having a ready-made replacement in situ.

    Palermo tempt Tristan
    Saturday 1 July, 2006
Palermo have signed two Verona players and are making a bid for Diego Tristan, while Roma pick up Ricardo Faty.

The Rosanero announced today that Mattia Cassani and Gianni Munari have arrived in Sicily from Hellas Verona. The 23-year-old defender has been signed on a permanent deal, while the midfielder is on a co-ownership agreement.

The club is also making an audacious bid for Deportivo La Coruna hitman Tristan. “In the past few weeks, I’ve been in Spain to negotiate Diego’s transfer to an Italian side,” explained agent Gaetano Mari.

“At this moment in time we are just at the discussion stage, but over the next fortnight we could see some important developments.”

Roma are also active on the transfer market this week, as it’s reported that a £200,000 deal has been struck for Strasbourg midfielder Ricardo Faty.

The 20-year-old is considered the ideal heir to Olivier Dacourt, who is heading for Inter after his contract expired.

Sampdoria have announced an agreement with Fiorentina for 24-year-old defender Christian Maggio. “It’s all in place for a loan spell with an option to buy at the end of the season,” explained director of sport Beppe Marotta.

Lazio have completed the signing of Stefano Mauri and Emilson Sanchez Cribari. The first was on loan from Udinese, the defender from Empoli.

Milan zoom in on Ze Roberto
    Saturday 1 July, 2006
Brazilian Ze Roberto has hinted at a free transfer to Milan this summer, where he could be joined by Portugal full-back Miguel.

The Rossoneri are eager to bring in the 32-year-old, who can play in any midfield role, following the departure towards Benfica of Manuel Rui Costa.

“I want to leave Bayern Munich, because after having played for Real Madrid and in the Bundesliga, I want a new experience,” revealed the Selecao star. “I don’t think I’ll have problems in finding another team, but I only want to decide what I’ll do after the World Cup.”

Ze Roberto will be out of contract this summer and it’s reported Milan have lined up a three-year deal worth £1.7m.

The Rossoneri have been active on the transfer market, bringing in Rennes youngster Yohann Gourcuff and Cristian Brocchi back from his loan spell at Fiorentina.

The defence also needs rejuvenating and today the Italian media maintains there is an offer in place for Portuguese right-back Miguel.

The 26-year-old has impressed for the Seleccion so far in the World Cup and has been compared with current San Siro hero Marcos Cafu.

He started his career in a more advanced role with Benfica, but has been transformed into an effective full-back at Valencia.

It’s believed the only stumbling block to this transfer is the £7m price-tag Valencia have slapped on the player, as they paid £5.5m to tempt him away from Benfica last summer.

Miguel already has fond memories of Italy, as he made his senior international debut against the Azzurri in February 2003. He has one goal in 32 caps and is expected to start against England in today’s quarter-final.

Crespo wants Italian return Monday 3 July, 2006

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Chelsea striker Hernan Crespo has admitted that he is on the verge of a return to Italian football this summer.

“Everyone knows that I want to play in Italy again,” he told the Corriere dello Sport newspaper. “Even Chelsea, who want to keep hold of me for life, have understood the situation.

“Roman Abramovich has asked me to stay, but it has got nothing to do with money. He knows I want to go and has put me on the market.”

Crespo initially joined Chelsea from Inter three years ago, but has since enjoyed a one-year loan spell with Milan.

Both clubs have again been linked with his services once more and the Argentina striker wouldn’t object to a San Siro reunion.

“Inter or Milan? It doesn’t really matter to me. I think I did well at both clubs and left a good impression,” he added.

“I’m just waiting for news now.”

The Stamford Bridge outfit are prepared to let the much-travelled forward go after netting Andriy Shevchenko from Milan for almost £31m prior to the World Cup.

Crespo will become even more tempting to Serie A sides seeing as he is also on the verge of gaining an Italian passport.

Crespo, formerly of Lazio and Parma, has also recently been associated with a switch to capital giants Roma.

    Vieri pens Doria deal
    Thursday 6 July, 2006
Veteran striker Christian Vieri is officially a Sampdoria player after he put pen to paper on a one-year contract.

The outfit confirmed the switch this evening even if a move has been on the cards since before the World Cup started.

The forward, whose father Roberto also appeared for the outfit, will be officially unveiled at the Palazzo Ducale in Genoa on Friday.

Whispers in the peninsula suggest that Vieri has agreed to lower his wages after holding talks with director general Beppe Marotta last month.

Vieri, now 33, therefore returns to Italian football just six months after leaving for Monaco in the French First Division.

The much-travelled forward quit Milan for the Principality in a bid to play regular first team football so that he could keep his World Cup hopes alive.

It did look like a smart move until the veteran picked up a knee meniscus injury which ruled him out of Germany 2006 contention.

    Lippi, tentazione Manchester
    07 07 2006
    AP

basicly it say´s that ManU wants to have Lippi after the WC to replace Ferguson.

    Lazio Swoop for Ledesma

Argentine youngster Cristian Ledesma will play for Lazio next season after he left Lecce on Thursday evening.

“Lecce communicate that they have sold the playing rights of footballer Cristian Ledesma to Lazio,” read a Giallorossi statement.

The Buenos Aires native had been strongly linked with the Biancocelesti for some time and completed his move despite the club’s involvement in the Calciopoli trial.

Ledesma, born in 1982, had scored three goals in 93 Serie A games for Lecce following his debut in March 2002.

The South American was netted at the specific request of boss Delio Rossi who did manage him for his one season on the Via Del Mare bench.
    ------------------------------------------------------------
thats a decent signing for Lazio, i am a fan of Ledesma even though he didnt have a great season last year.

    Toro pick up Pancaro
    Saturday 8 July, 2006
Newly promoted Torino are strengthening their squad with Diego De Ascentis and veteran Giuseppe Pancaro.

It is a return to the Granata for both these players, as defender Pancaro began his career with this club in 1989-90 when they were still in Serie B.

He moved on to Avezzano, Cagliari, Lazio, Milan and spent this season at Fiorentina, making 20 appearances between Serie A and the Coppa Italia. He was out of contract with the Viola and the 35-year-old prepares to begin his 15th top flight campaign.

De Ascentis spent five years at the Delle Alpi before joining Livorno last summer, but the midfielder returns to Toro after one goal in 29 appearances this term. The 30-year-old was also a free agent snapped up by the Serie A new boys.
