With Sheva in Chelsea, he wouldn't play more. And even if Mourinho sometimes played him as a midfielder he wouldn't get past the likes of

Chelsea wouldn't have let him go to a rival team in England. He's a good player, and he'll make the grade in Barcelona.

    Vieri passes Doria medical
    Thursday 15 June, 2006

Christian Vieri is just a signature away from joining Sampdoria after passing a medical with the Serie A outfit.

The Italian striker has been strongly linked with Doria over the past few weeks and he’s now on the verge of completing the deal after cancelling his Monaco contract this week.

Vieri, who underwent knee surgery last month, has successfully come through a medical and has agreed a one-year deal. He now just has to put pen to paper.

Whispers circulating in the peninsula this afternoon suggest that he has accepted a one-year contract worth just £600,000.

“It’s an exciting operation without great operational costs,” stated Sampdoria director general Beppe Marotta, a man who worked with Vieri at Ravenna.

“Bobo, as well as being an extraordinary champion, can help Sampdoria on the field of play and is also an investment for the club’s image.”

Sampdoria owner Riccardo Garrone simply stated: “Marotta has done everything, I await to meet him…”

Vieri is now 33-years-old and returns to the peninsula after an unhappy six-month stay in Ligue 1 with the Principality outfit.

His move to Doria, where his father Roberto also played, is his third switch in a year after he left Inter for Milan last summer.

For Stephan: It Was Impossible To Say No To Barça - Gudjohnsen

Barcelona's latest recruit Eidur Gudjohnsen was visibly delighted at his presentation, and said that he didn't have any difficulty in deciding to move to the Nou Camp.
    Photo

Gudjohnsen mentioned during his presentation that he had other good offers, but that the choice was simple: "When Barça call you, you cannot say no."

He said he was very happy to be a part of one of most prestigious clubs of the world. "For me, it is an honour to play here," he continued. "I hope that people here are just as happy with my arrival as I am."

He also praised the contribution of Larsson, but was careful not to enter into comparisons. "I know that Larsson has left, and that people will speak of me as his substitute," he said. "But I have my style, and I do not want to constantly be compared with him."

He admitted that after six years at Chelsea, he needed a change, and that Mourinho understood completely.

"We never spoke about me coming to Barcelona, but in more general terms," he said of his conversations with Mourinho. "However, whenever Mourinho spoke about the club - for example, before the Champions League clash - he did so with a lot of passion, telling us what the club means for Catalunya, and the pride associated."

The Iceland international was also happy to fight for a position in the starting eleven, and not overawed by names such as Ronaldinho, Messi, Eto'o and Giuly.

"I have already played in a club like Chelsea, where there is a lot of competition. For me, being chosen in the first eleven is a challenge, but a team is not about eleven people, but fifty. From the president to the physiotherapist, we all have the same objective."

But the 27 year old, who signed for four years, with a release clause of 60 million Euros, vowed "to work hard and make team selection difficult for Rijkaard."

Milan Prepare 30 Million Euro For Torres

The Rossoneri are looking for a player to replace Shevchenko.

Milan are finding it harder than expected to substitute Andriy Shevchenko who was sold to Chelsea in the past weeks.

The main target has become Fernando Torres, with the Rossoneri preparing an offer of 30 million Euro to convince Atletico Madrid to let him go.

Torres is also followed by Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United, and his contract with the Spanish side expires in 2008

Parma And Fiorentina Discussing Bonera Deal

The Viola want the Gialloblu defender to bolster their rearguard.

Fiorentina are very active on the transfer market and their latest possible transfer is Daniele Bonera of Parma

The player admitted that a negotiation is currently going on between the two clubs, but he does not want to think about these things right now and instead enjoy his holidays.

"I know there is a negotiation going on, but right now I'm on holiday and I don't think about the transfer market. I will you imagine..."

Alves Says No To Milan The Sevilla defender wants a move to Liverpool.
    Photo
The Rossoneri's dream of signing Daniel Alves has canished completely, as the player's agent, Jose Rodriguez Baster, admitted that his client wants just Liverpool.

"I can say that without any doubt he wants Liverpool only.

"Personally I did not speak to any other club, whoever called spoke directly to Sevilla, but Daniel wants to play with Liverpool."

The Spanish club are asking 15 million Euros for the services of their defender.

Torres is a good player who can learn a lot in this WC.
He has talent, that cannot be denied. He's not the next Sheva or something, that's for sure.

    Pisano-Accardi trade clubs
    Friday 16 June, 2006
Marco Pisano has left Sampdoria for Palermo after Pietro Accardi made the move in the opposite direction.

Pisano, a promising left-back, has been linked with the Rosanero for some weeks now and completed his switch on Friday.

The former Brescia youngster, still just 25, made 30 appearances for Doria during the 2005-06 campaign.

The ex-Under-21 international has agreed a four-year contract at the Stadio Renzo Barbera.

Accardi, a 24-year-old who has spent six seasons with the Sicilian giants, played in only six Serie A games last term.

Marseille are reported to have gone ahead and struck a loan deal with Liverpool for Djibril Cisse.

The French international had looked set to move to The Stade Velodrome this summer - but a broken leg just before the World Cup finals whilst with Les Bleus looked to have scuppered any deal.

However, Marseille have now agreed a long-term loan deal with Liverpool - which will turn into a permanent deal next summer.

Cisse for his part is continuing his rehabilitation - with September pencilled in as a possible return.

Further reports have suggested that Liverpool could very well take Samir Nasri on loan as part of the same deal.

The 19-year-old is thought to be available on a temporary deal from l'OM and Manchester City have already made contact.

However, Nasri could be Anfield bound if boss Rafael Benitez insists on having the young midfielder as part of any Cisse deal.
