But the loan-option style of acquisition allows management to get the player into the club for a season, assess their character, training habits, and general qualities, before making the final decision. In the end, what he needed to regain his form was largely continuity. Obviously there's that period of integration, but getting a string of games to really gel with the starters and gain confidence has brought out the best in him.
