Khedira's first season here was a resounding success any way you look at it.
In 13/14 he played 1370 minutes. In 14/15 he played 621 minutes...
He upped that to 1922 minutes this past season, and every single injury, but the very first was minor... Things like strains, pulls, a minor flesh wound... He had 1 real injury, where he missed 9 games. 1 injury that made him miss 3 games, 1 at 2 games, and 4 at 1 game. Those are very minor knocks that with a player we are trying to build back up we were always going to be more careful with. This injury with Germany is another incredibly minor one. He's likely going to miss 1 game, and they seem to expect him back for the final, if they make it.
If Khedira builds on last season and continues improving his musculature and durability, fantastic. He's in line for a brilliant season. We clearly want one more top midfielder for rotation in the Starting XI because of Marchisio being injured. 4 top midfielders is perfect. Add Marchisio to the mix, and we have the best midfield depth in the world if we sign a player like Kante.
Khedira failed. You don't even understand how ridiculous that sounds. We got him free. He was brought here to work into the starting XI, and slowly become an integral part of this team over the course of the season. We knew from the start it would take some time to build him back into a durable player. And that slowly started to pay off through the latter stages of the season when he was hardly injured at all.
Second.
Even comparing Benatia to Khedira and acting like he's been a long term injury prone player completely discredits everything you have to say about him. He hasn't been. In the slightest. 1 season does not make a player injury prone.
And this Rugani nonsense...
Rugani is 21. He'll get plenty of minutes in the best squad in Italy. Each season that will only increase. He's going nowhere. Obviously.
