Younger is criteria to trump quality on his own how? And yeah his injury record is a worry, but not defenite one, more of constant niggling injuries instead of big career altering one. Hopefully can be helped with new invironment, he didnt have this issue in Roma. Plus he would be one of 5 CBs so we have time to wait for him to get going.

Its insane to doubt him this much IMO, quote me on this later if you like, but this guy will be a world class lynchpin for us for years to come.
Injuries are my only concern, especially considering us and Udinese players.

I've read various epl club forums and many there badly wanted Benatia despite his injury record. Terrific defender when fit. Hope Juve's dokters work closely with him or something.

i wouldn´t get my hopes up. sky germany didn´t know shit for the last few days.
very unlikely that it´s a loan + real option.
most likely it will be something like an option that becomes mandatory if a certain number of games is reached OR an obligation worth ~1Xm depeding on the number of appearances.
still, most likely a great deal.

Agreed. Why would we accept a mandatory buy set to €18m for next year? If we're certain on a transfer we'd just do it now and pay in installments. German press got this wrong im sure.

Yeah not excited about this move one bit, should havr gotten that padoin type 5th CB, instead we get an expensive oft injured player work discipline problem who could potentially stunt ruganis growth or even his stay with us

sportmediaset says it´s a 2m loan and we have to buy him for 16m but only if he makes at least 20 appearances.

Same goes for Kompany and Vermaelen, who are both better than Benatia imo, and I'd be terrified if we got them. The odds of this being a waste of money are very high. At the very least it's a considerable gamble.

Vermaelen better then Benatia  Still know tons of Arsenal fans who are so relived they got rid of him. Mediocre defender who only had one half season of excellence, otherwise not out of the ordinary defender with good technique.

I used to rate Kompany but he regressed before the massive injury issues, too inconsistent to be a top one, and not much of a leader / organiser (which both of his team's need).

Vermaelen definitely used to be better. Like Kompany though, injuries took their toll. The exact same goes for Benatia btw. Also very weird that you don't see Kompany as an organiser, when every pundit out there saying it's the loss of Kompany's organisational skills that cost City the league this year. I also think this part of his game is better than when he has to purely defend, as evidenced by when he's completely outdone on one on ones vs Ronaldo.

Vermalen better than Benatia?

What sport?
If you compare Kompany and Vermaelen to Benatia, you'll find that both are of similar age to Benatia and have had longer quality spells in their career. Benatia played for friggin' Clermont and Udinese before joining Roma, where he was decent and Bayern, where he was not.

No way Vermalen is better than Benatia.
He is imo, and by quite the margin.

The debate is silly anyway, as I'd get neither.

FFS there is no limit to how much you overrate some Belgian players. I kinda liked Vermaelen at his better days in Arsenal, fun kind of defender, but he excelled in most things BUT the defending, his possessional sense and awareness was horrid. Good on the ball and physical but there is no time I thought this guy is a top defender...

Breaking on SKY Germany;

Done, Loan + option set at 18 million.
we got Coman for 0€, we sold him to Bayern for 28M and got Benatia for 18M -> Bayern is paying us 10M to take Benatia off them

Vermaelen has a better track record than Benatia. At 29, that kind of tells you something.

For the record I never thought Benatia was a top defender either. And now he's also injured all the time.

Out of the three I'd probably rate Kompany the highest. Like I said though, I wouldn't take any of them.

Just look at the Khedira experiment. I didnt worked.
The guy is hella good, but we knew he had an horrid injury record, was bought anyways. Now we need to find a replacement for him because he cannot be trusted.

People can say all the good he is, but he is injured every 2 months. Cannot be trusted.
