But I am not saying he needs to only train. I said 1000+ minutes in addition to training all year and learning from Barza, Chiello, Bonucci is the perfect environment for a young player.

He played 1500 minutes last year, with hardly featuring at all in the first half. I doubt that sees a significant drop this year even with Benatia. I'd bet it rises, as I doubt Barza stays as healthy all year as he did last year, and we have to chase the pack in Serie A like we did.

Bonucci became a starter here at 23, in 7th place Juventus.

Rugani will likely be starting here if he continues to develop well in 1-2 years. As in, at 23-24.

Benatia is hardly going to effect this in my opinion. But it's wait and see as is always the case.

:agree: The difference in game time (at Juve compared to starter at a low club) is more than made up for by being at Juventus. First, we have better coaches then anyone else in Italy and better team mates to learn from than anyone else.

Second and more importantly, a well functioning machine is the best place for a youngster to grow because he doesnt have to deal with high pressure when the team is good with or without him. He gets to have top level experience and at the same time he plays as part of a unit that is already firing on all cylinders thereby minimizing the pressure on him. Even if he does mess up, he is covered by the other defenders and our attack is likely to win the game anyway. Moreover he gets to learn the best defensive practices rather than being thrown into a chaotic defense and having to figure out what to do from scratch.

This is why I was happy that Allegri didn't toss him into the shitstorm we were experiencing at the start of the season... he very appropriately waited until the team was firing on all cylinders to start giving him regular playing time. And 1500 minutes is a lot for a 21 year old defender, playing at a top 5 club in Europe. It's almost surprising he managed to get that much time. Very impressive regardless of our injury troubles. Allegri felt confident enough with him to use him in a back 3 down the stretch in Serie A, rather than switching to back 4 to keep him on the bench. Speaks volumes.

 :agree:

Our first three months of last season were no placed for a relatively green and inexperienced CB. We needed to weather that huge storm before letting this boy get some significant game-time. It worked out beautifully in the end.

benatia comes across to me as a whiner.

complained about his last 2 clubs. do we really want this sort of attitude here?

in b4 "juve fixes whiners. juve has class"

Juve culture, rarely we had players whining to the media, can't think of any player who had problems with the mang and started talking to the press about it ?
::hustini2:: true, does Rugani's agent counts? Not that he had problems with Allegri, but with the playing time situation

Rugani got minute because Caceres were injured.
Allegri would never played him if Caceres stayed healthy.

Anyway, i do not like benatia's arrival. But i trust beppe and waiting what will happen. I really hope all of our defenders get enough minutes and give us more security.

And it will be the same with Benatia. Rugani will get his minutes, cause Benatia will be injured. :D
