We had no challengers last year, we wouldnt even this year if Conte stayed away from Inter. But him coupled with Marotta will make this season prolly hardest in years to win title. The argument was who had it more difficult Allegri in 2014 or Sarri in 2019? I think Juve in 2014 were more complete and had less weaknesses in our game, defense was rock solid, while midfield consisted of Pirlo, Pogba and Vidal dominated opponents.

Our defence and midfield in 2014 was a tier above what it is in 2019. That is not up for debate or discussion.

I feel that team would beat the crap out of current Juve. Apart from attack, every other position, including coach, were superior. You could make a case about fullbacks but Licht and Evra in that season were fantastic as well.

They'll never run out of excuses should Sarri fail. They won't admit it, but the expectations have dropped.

In the unlikely case that we lose to Inter, then of course not because our coach didn't get the best out of his superior squad, but because Inda (also a team with a new coach btw.) was some unstoppable force.

Did you not get the memo? When Max was our coach, no one else wanted to control games, let alone win them. He should have imposed his style on every match, dominated them all for 90 minutes, crushed all the other top teams by multiple goals, and never once adapted to opponents, the reactionary coward.

Alas, a magic switch flipped this summer and now all other top teams want to dominate and win games. Now we shall be lucky if we control 45 minutes a match. Poor Maurizio coming into an impossibly difficult position. If he manages to win a single trophy, bless him for a god.

I don't think you can measure a teams strength by only looking at 11 players. Look at our bench now and compare it to what we had back then. Psychology also plays a huge part. I feel back then some of our players still had an inferiority complex towards the Barca's, Real's and Bayern's. I don't think that exists today.

We have come a long way from 2014 and imo we have a better team at the moment all things considered. In 2014 we had a starting 11 that consisted of some better individuals compared to today's team.

I can only speak for myself but I dont consider current team CL favorites at all unlike in 2014 when I thought Juve to be underestimated and among CL contenders. Overall we have better depth now and as you have said our mentality improved and for that latter credit goes to Allegri but I find our starting 11 inferior, which for for me is more important. Mentality can get you so far, depth is great to have and allows you to rest key players before important games but in the end quality decides, most of the times. The fact that we have more fringe players wont help us to beat Barca, Bayern or Real. Im also not arguing if this team has more appeal or if its wealthier, which it quite obviously is. But that also wont help us once the season starts. Im just looking at players at hand and that decides it for me as far as CL goes.

The current roster is very experienced at being at the top level of serie A and in Europe both individually and collectively. Experience matters a lot in these tight matches. Calm nerves and confidence and knowing how to navigate these tough games at the latter stages. Talented but inexperienced team tend to rely on enthusiasm and underdog mentality. Experienced teams tend to have calm nerves in those games and know how to manage the different phases within these games. Ronaldo alone as an individual talent and as the type of experience he brings along makes a huge difference in how we are equipped for these games.

Don't get me wrong, Pirlo was super talented but he was one experienced player amongst a pool of inexperience. Ronaldo is the master of the CL and the whole squad now have plenty of years of experience in Europe.

We are definitely more likely to win now than we were back then. The current team is after all building on what the old team had and is improving on it. The only part thats less experienced at this level is Sarri vs Allegri.

I dont agree with first part at all. We had far better goalkeeper, far more reliable CBs and more talented but at the same time gritty midfielders. This just isnt comparable to me, I cant put on a straight face when debating Vidal vs Matuidi or MDL vs Chiellini. Licht was better FB than Cuad, the latter is there out of neccesity. If those teams were similar in terms of quality then current mentality would give us upper hand.
