But those vertical passes are getting there.
We sucked defensively big time and had no tactical answers to their counter attacks, our offside trap needs a lot of work. I am not sure how much we can fix there.
But despite sucking that hard and Spurs completely controlling the game and score at will, there is one positive thing, how easily we managed to push ahead, even with limited forces and managed to get those goals!
We are going for high scores this season.

PS such a ns thing of him to say about the need to sell 2-3 of our deadwood

Lots of things I noticed from this friendly on game play. But the over that sticks out was the pressing which is important to sarriball and playing it front the back.

The pressing seldom worked in the first half and every time Tottenham by passed the press they had a numerical advantage going forward. Most of the time they by passed it be cross field balls to their right........ Meaning either De Sciglio or Matuidi was not their stopping that.

When the press worked we had clear opportunities.

Playing it from the back teething issues. Matuidi responsible for first goal. Mids need to be careful not to give it away during this phase of play.

It seems Sarri still haven't figured out where to play Ronaldo. Sarri may be a attacking coach, but he always defence with 10 (If high pressing doesn't work out, our defender force opposite team to pass back, and the team shift back to 10 players defence shape). Ronaldo don't defence, so if he plays LW, the CF have to cover for him, may be that's why Sarri experimented Mandzukic as CF and Matuidi as LCM first, but it clearly don't work. I see when Higuain come on, he sometimes comes back and defence the left side too. We need Dybala, D.Costa and Cuadrado come back as soon as possible to try Ronaldo as a CF, for me it's the best solution.

Allegri' decided LW is Ronaldo's best position, and he makes Mandzukic CF to cover the left side instead of Ronaldo, and the other winger/attack mid Dybala/Bernardeschi have to come back deeper to help. Allegri is more defensive mind, that's his solution and we all see the result. Now Sarri is different coach, but he face the same situation and have to figured it out. Normally, when a team want to play attacking football, the defence shape always lose balance, the good team is the one found some ways around it. Example Pep's team, they try to keep as high possession as possible, with motto "opponent can't attack if they don't have ball". Liverpool will press immediatly when they lose possesion, they can attack with accurary longball and pacey attacker, Ajax adds in some tactical foul when deal with counter attack,..v..v... Sarri's Napoli is more balance, they have high work-rate with good tecnical players all over the pitch so they can keep their shape fine. Juve have higher quality, but not that kind of all around packet, and Sarri have to figure it out how to make that quality shine, start from our best player.

This whole Ronaldo LW thing is a big mistake IMO
Yeah Ronaldo would be the best LW we can have but Ronaldo is more of a goal scorer than the one who provides assists and this is where the problem lies..
If you put Ronaldo at CF and get someone very capable at LW you get an assist man and the best assassin you can have.
If you get Icardi - Yeah Icardi will score and Ronaldo will too but on the other hand you are missing his assassin skills (CR7) and you miss having a true assist guy. It is a solution but its not the best solution...

Neymar although 99.99% he is not coming could really solved it as Neymar knows how to play on the left and is probably the best dribbler in the world which would be great to have on the flank while he is also knows how to be creative while scoring as well+Ronaldo hits the center with his abilities and its like we start every game with a goal up (Remind me of what we used to say about Real and Barcelona a few years ago...)

Salah could have been amazing for us - Typical Sarri player and probably the best RW in the world
Sane is among the best but I`d put Neymar as the best LW
Ronaldo will do well in every position but he is an amazing assassin as CF and when you play him as LW it means he will score as he is Ronaldo but he will not be the assassin he could be as CF.

This is why I said its a mistake

P.S Salah is probably the best player we could go for and this is why the 160M we allegedly offered makes sense...

You think people would understand this alone from the game he played at CF last year. He barely touched the ball or scored its a waste of hes tlaents.
