He surely doesn't deserve much more playing time than he has received though
His playing time at this point will also relate heavily to what he does in training, he would have been off the pace from day 1 as he had a serious knee injury which prevented him from completing a pre season at the club. Difficult to understate how important that time would have been for him to adapt and settle, as well as regain fitness through practice matches and friendlies.

I wouldn't have read much into any flaws shown last night. He played out of position for most of the game, and was switched around a few times (as Amer pointed out). For a wingback that loves to hug the touchline, it would have been quite difficult to be very effective on the opposite flank. Defensively nothing really troubled him from what I remember, the only questionable decision I can recall was when he could have won a throw-in but decided to smack the ball upfield instead.

It looks like it was easy for some to forget that he has had been fairly decent in some games this season and has 3 assists, as already there are morons saying he's shown no quality so far. Unless he starts putting in regular performances similar to the one vs Milan in November, I don't think there is much reason to not be a little more patient.

Spot on, Salvatore.

I am really amused by those who are saying "I know that he is recovering from a serious injury, but he really sucked!!!11"

All I'm saying is that at moment I'd prefer Licht and Padoin over Isla on right, Asa and DC over him on left side and Caceres on both sides. Yesterday he got a chance to prove himself and grab a pretty vacant starting spot on the left side and he pretty much wasted that chance, an ok performance, but nothing more, hardly a 6. We shouldn't jump to any final conclusions at this moment (about paying the remaining 9m or not), but he needs to do way better if he wants to stop riding the bench.

If we didnt take the offer and refuse to pay the other 9 mils what could happen?.
We return him and wasted the initial mils or what¿.

Bench Licht?? Thats a tough one, mot that Isla cant play well, but Licht is thaat good!
Becoming his main sum or the offensive option though would be good enough and realistic!

Isla has been very poor. He isn't in sync with the players, is too slow and sluggish at the moment, I would play Caceres on the right in front of him right now.

i announced that isla should be back to udinese 3 months ago. but some guy protested me and told that he is still recovering from injury. after three months still they insist on that isla is recovering and will bench lich.
