This. Of all our CB's, Bonucci is the best to start in the middle of the back three. People are wrong if they think Barzagli or Chiellini will be preferred to Bonucci in the middle of the back three, because frankly, neither of them are better than Bonucci with the ball.
Though Bonucci is the worst tackler of the three. Leonardo "Failed Rabona" Bonucci.

He's defo a competent defender in terms of tackling etc IMO but his mistakes can be pretty costly. It has cost us more goals than I can remember (and this is reaffirmed after watching the highlights of the whole of last season over the weekend). If he can not do that he will be much better. But I too favour him as a starter, I think he can be pretty underrated here.

Same here.

Bonucci's tackling ability is very underrated here. People focus a lot more on his mistakes, which tend to ignore the good he does. He completes our back-line.
bonucci is a good defender
but he needs to be more confident and less panicking (which comes with experience)
for example his fault vs napoli
he was so scared for pandev in his neck (maybe pandev was even swearing something) and bonucci panicked and made a dumb mistake.

His mistakes are costly, but I didn't see the same reactions when Chiellini was making them earlier last season.

Defenders' mistakes will obviously look worse then they are because they tend to result in a goal in opposition's favor.

I think everyone acknowledges when Chiello makes mistakes, but I also think (purely from memory recollection) that Leo's exceeds either in number/mistakes resulting in actual goals/real threats. But there could also be a bias here as Chiello is the favoured Juve player, but I honestly don't think it's so much of that.

I prefer something like this:

Buffon (Storari)

Barzagli (Masi)
Bonucci (Lucio)
Chiellini (Caceres)

Isla (Lichsteiner)
Vidal (Pogba)
Pirlo (Marrone)
Marchisio (Giaccherini)
Asamoah (De Ceglie)

Giovinco (Quagliarella)
Matri (Matri)
