Good for him, he has earned the literal number 1 jersey for us.

Not to be Lion though but what actually is the plan with the GK position? Are we going to use them both?

Renewing perin and giving him the #1 sends mixed messages when we just signed the leagues best GK

MDG clearly first choice, Perin will be the Coppa keeper and play the odd other game.

Dont forget, Perin only played 3 games in Serie A last season, and one of those was the final game with Monza before swapping out for Pinsoglio's annual 45 minutes of fame. It's a very defined 1, 2 and 3, but you need to have someone as good as Perin as back up in a top club these days.

I prefer the keeper to wear #1 but it's not necessarily a sign of who is first choice keeper at a club anymore.

You realize its just a shirt number right?

Perin will remain what he was under Buffon, Woj, and now backup to Di Gregorio. Play coppa matches mainly.

He has nr 1 because Di Gregorio doesn't want that number. He is a nr 16 or in this case nr 29 preferring goalie.

I have never seen a better mix of a lack of ambition and more likeable player than Perin.

Good man.

wouldn’t call that a lack of ambition.
I’ve met a couple of top level keepers in my life and they have played number 2s a few years (5 or even 10)

they tell me the amount of learnings u get at a top club is invaluable. even though u don’t get to play games, but u are training alongside best players, coaches, and facilities!

besides, for a GK, u can play well into your 40. A few of them only became a first choice at that age, though playing for a smaller club. But the elite mentality they bring with them made them a star in their team, bringing great satisfaction and joy

Bruh think about Ben Foster!
Played number 2 for a huge chunk of his career, then hit peak when he joined wrexham! Sure Wrexham may not be in EPL.

But I’m sure keepers like Chris Kirkland, Mark Schwarzer, or Jorge Lopez have less fans than him! And they don’t get to rub shoulders with Ryan Reynolds
