We should do everything to keep him in the team. I don’t expect us to give up on him so easy, although he weighs heavy in the books. This guy is something else and will be one of the best defenders of the ‘20s

i posted this a few weeks ago. it already became reality.

we should not delay rebuilding of squad anymore. a few years ago we had de ligt, demiral and romero. next year, there is a possibility of starting the new season with bonucci, chiellini, rugani and romagnoli. something went wrong here.

It's probably the best time to sell in the next summer. We won't be able to sign new contract with him since he will demand 15m+ probably. Get around 100 m now and we are okay. We have to rebuild for this money, with good transfers it's possible.

It is a shame though, since it is another position to fill in a summer that already looks make or break for the club’s immediate future. Even if we do get a premium for him, it isn’t going to make filling positions any easier as clubs will simply raise their own asking price. As someone said earlier, it sucks badly to have gone from him and Romero to this situation.

I really like De Ligt both as a player and for his temperament in personality. Though he’ll clearly be one of the best defenders for most of the 20’s, I do often ask myself whether it was wise that we went all out for him considering he was always likely to move on. And to be honest, looking at the way we play and our squad- I can’t blame him for wanting to jump ship now rather than living though a rebuild.

Should have been given the armband a year ago. Oh well, at least we will get some money I guess.

We still have Bonucci and Chiellini so we should be fine. :)

He was always bound to leave.

Get at least the price we paid for him back, I don't think we're getting 100m, let alone his release clause.

Get Bremer, Hickey, Svanberg, and Zaniolo for that money. Fill out the squad with young hungry players.

We would have been able to keep him if we built a competitive team imo
No chance imo. We had a super competitive team with Pogba and he left. We had maybe the best team in the world back in the day and only Nedved's loyalty stopped him from leaving.

I don't blame Raiola like a lot of people, I think it's mutual between the agent and player. Players are not idiots, you don't hire Raiola if you don't want to move around a lot. De Ligt strikes me as a Ronaldo type - want to experience multiple leagues and multiple teams. He will move from us to Chelsea IMO and then to Barca a few years from then.

MDL and Pogba are different people. Pogba is into glamour and off the pitch stuff. MDL is all about the football and will probably want to play where he can have the most success.

Yeah maybe he would've left eventually anyway even if we were a top tier team but being in the crap state we are now is probably accelerating that.

I blame our management. Now lets see what they can do with the funds from his sale.
